Job Description

The Disney Decision Science + Integration (DDSI) organization is responsible for supporting clients across The Walt Disney Company including the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products segment which include Parks & Resorts both domestic and international, Consumer Products and Disney Signature Experiences as well as the Disney Entertainment segment which include Studios Content (Disney Theatrical Group), General Entertainment Content, and ESPN and Sports Content.

DDSI leverages technology, data analytics, optimization, statistical and econometric modeling to explore opportunities, shape business decisions and drive business value.

The Data Engineering team is responsible for partnering with Decision Science Products, Decision Science, Client and Technology team members on various development and sustainment projects, ad-hoc requests, prototyping and research initiatives by providing data pipeline and database engineering services.

The DDSI Data Engineering (DE) team is seeking a Data Engineer to work on the development and sustainment of products for our Media business. The work will involve various data engineering activities such as maintaining and enhancing data acquisition processes, data validation processes, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and overall process notification methods.

What you will do:

Work assignments may cover activities such as data requirements gathering, source-to-target mapping, data validation scripting and review, data visualization, developing and monitoring ETL/ELT data pipelines, designing and implementing database schema/tables/views, and producing datasets as input to science models and visualizations.

Technologies leveraged to fulfill the work include, but not limited to, SQL (mainly Snowflake and PostgreSQL), Python, Docker, Gitlab, and Airflow.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field preferred)
  • Experience with developing in a multi environment (Dev, QA, Prod, etc.) and DEVOP procedures for code deployment/promotion
  • 1-3 years of experience with ELT/ETL data pipeline development and maintenance
  • Proven experience and expertise using Python and SQL (preferably with Snowflake)
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated job schedulers
  • Strong understanding of relational database design and proficiency

What will set you apart:

  • Experience managing and deploying code using a source control product such as GitLab/GitHub
  • Master’s degree (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field preferred)
  • Knowledgeable on cloud architecture and product offerings, preferably AWS
  • Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based, such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar
  • Experience utilizing Docker
