It Automation Engineer (Remote)

KLDiscovery, a leading global provider of electronic discovery, information governance and data recovery services, is currently seeking an IT Automation Engineer for an exciting new opportunity.

As an IT Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated solutions to streamline and optimize IT processes and workflows. To be successful in this role, you will combine technical expertise with a strong understanding of IT operations to drive automation initiatives and support the organization's digital transformation goals. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify areas for automation and develop solutions to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual efforts, and enhance system reliability will be key to evolving the IT Automation team.

Responsibilities

• Research automation technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and evaluate their applicability to improve existing automation frameworks and processes.
• Analyze existing IT processes and workflows, identify areas for improvement, and develop automation strategies to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to gather requirements, share knowledge, and document automation solutions and best practices.
• Utilize configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible) and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) frameworks (e.g., Terraform) to automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of IT infrastructure components.
• Write scripts and develop code using programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate routine tasks, data processing, and system integration.
• Ensure that automation solutions adhere to security standards and compliance requirements, implement access controls, and monitor for vulnerabilities or risks.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated systems and tools to support various IT operations, including infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, deployment, and incident response.
• Implement automated monitoring solutions and configure alerting mechanisms to proactively detect and resolve system issues, ensuring high availability and performance.

Qualifications

• Git
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with automation frameworks and tools, such as Ansible/AWX or Terraform.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Docker
• Strong programming and scripting skills, with proficiency in languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Ruby.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Ansible/AWX
• Familiarity with Windows/Linux, infrastructure virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware) and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, GCP).
• Terraform

• Experience with version control systems and work management systems such as Azure DevOps or other tools preferred
• Experience with DevOps practices and methodologies is a plus.
