The Precision Editing team at Arbor Biotechnologies is looking for an Associate Scientist interested in applying and advancing novel precision editing technologies to develop therapeutic gene-editing products. In this role, you will develop, optimize, and characterize next generation gene editing systems in disease relevant human cell models to support Arbor’s innovative pipeline of gene editing therapies. We are looking for a scientific contributor that has a strong background in mammalian cell biology, cellular assay development, and understanding of drug development. Additionally, familiarity of molecular biology and cloning and knowledge of next generation sequencing and flow cytometry is a plus.
What can you expect?
- Articulate data and results to research teams and other company forums with clarity and precision.
- Collaborate with automation and computational biology teams to help improve methods for data collection and analysis.
- Contribute to innovation initiatives aimed at amplifying the efficacy of cutting-edge gene editing technologies in mammalian cells, collaborating closely with the protein engineering team.
- Analyze data and maintain laboratory notebooks to ensure documentation of experimental results.
- Lead the design of studies to assess gene editors, skillfully execute experiments, and proficiently analyze and interpret data.
- Pioneer development of methods to thoroughly characterize groundbreaking gene editing systems in mammalian cells utilizing molecular and functional readouts.
What you bring:
- Experience with cell culture, transfection, PCR, Western blot, reporter assays and fluorescent imaging.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in mammalian cell-based assay development.
- Familiarity with next generation sequencing and the use of automation in the context of cell screening in a bonus.
- Familiarity of molecular biology and cloning is a plus.
- Understanding of gene editing in mammalian cell systems is desirable.
- Familiarity with programs such as Excel, GraphPad Prism, and PowerPoint for data presentation.
- Experience with flow cytometry is a plus.
- MS 6+ years’ experience or BS and 8+ years of equivalent training in cell biology, genetics, or related bioscience field.
- Strong collaborator within cross functional teams.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
