Job Description

Summary:

The Transportation Associate Product Manager will provide leadership and direction through coordinating projects and implementing actionable plans to deliver growth via product development and product line maintenance. He/She manages the development and implementation of marketing activities to achieve sales, margin and customer service goals. This position will also drive growth through developing winning product / customer strategies, including end-to-end product lifecycle management from defining market requirements, developing the concept, design, launch, and production realization for sustained profitability. It will require communicating and driving projects in a cross-functional team environment that include Sales, Engineering, Customer Support, Quality, and Operations.


Principle Responsibilities:


· Product Life-Cycle Management

- Monitor and analyze market trends and project activity and prepare sales forecasts for use in planning manufacturing operations and for controlling inventories. (SIOP)

- Develop & lead implementation of winning business models

- Actively participates in the Operations and Quality processes through kaizen activities, project execution, problem-solving, and recommending solutions to enhance and improve the quality of departmental and/or company-wide business activities

- Use a fact-based approach to execute on product portfolio actions based on market / customer demand and requirements

- Execute on 80/20 product management principles/mindset to support customer prioritization, reduction of transaction wastes, profitability improvement…


· Support Profitable Sales Growth

- Develop relationships with our key OEMs to defend existing business and increase share of wallet (working closely with our Applications Engineering and Sales team)

- Drive existing product sales to full potential through market expansion

- Supports outside sales organization in driving quick turn-around of customer proposals for modified product requests

- Lead efforts to analyze competitive products to identify value and product differentiation

- Define and implement pricing strategies aligned with market opportunity

- Support Productivity Improvement projects to reduce cost and improve margins

· Strategic Planning and Roadmap Development

- Understand and articulate product and customer requirements by analyzing customer applications, market size and projected market growth

- Support the development and refinement of our long-term vision and strategy through market research, market segmentation, voice of the customer and competitive analysis.

- Update product roadmap based on market development actions and addressing technical gaps based on core applications served

- Lead new product development:

§ Leads cross-functional actions through our tollgate process

§ Leads product launch and market introduction activity

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES / REQUIREMENTS


Experience/Training/Education:

· BA/BS Degree in Engineering with Business/Marketing/Finance experience

· A good understanding of technical products and concepts:

- Knowledge of product design and manufacturing principals

- Able to read Engineering drawings and Bills of material

- Industrial Marketing and sales principles, methods and practices

- Able to communicate technical product applications

- Customer service principles, practices and procedures. Managing large account principles (a plus)

· One or more years of customer-facing experience that includes product management sales/marketing experience in Industrial / Manufacturing space

· Strong financial acumen a plus

· Preferred experience in Automotive / Transportation market (ideally serving the Heavy Duty Commercial vehicle market segment)

· Travel: up to 25%
