Job Description
Job Summary
The Product Development Manager is responsible for contributing to all phases of new product development and product reformulation processes from concept to consumer within Too Faced Cosmetics. This individual must be innovative and creative with a keen awareness of global color and industry trends. This position requires a solid understanding of product development fundamentals with an expertise in prestige color cosmetics along with the ability to apply strategic thinking throughout ideation and conceptualization. This position is based in Too Faced Corporate Headquarters located in Irvine, CA.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate in internal communication with cross-functional partners as it relates to product briefs, formula evaluation, copy and claims, artwork, and regulatory deliverables.
  • In partnership with the Product Development team, manage on-going formula development, reformulations, and new product innovations in the color cosmetics category.
  • Collaborate with packaging team and Creative team on product concepts and design
  • Collaborate in product development meetings – assist in presenting new products, presenting reworks of formulas, and brainstorming new ideas.
  • Partner closely with the Executive Director and Product Marketing Team, on concepting and design of new product launches.
  • Lead high risk product launches while maintaining multiple spreadsheets and checklist that hold key information and keep track of these specific projects.
  • Translate industry and color trends into viable product concepts to align with seasonal strategies along with developing the pipeline for future products and constantly be on the pulse of trends and innovation.
  • Manage day to day communication with manufactures to initiate, follow up and track development, submissions, and documents.
  • Define testing protocols with corresponding cross functional teams, including creating process, tools and overseeing all product testing execution (safety, clinical and/or sensory).
  • Travel to labs onsite (domestic and international) for formula and color development.
  • Create and develop innovative new product textures, shades, and aesthetics with high quality that are relevant to our brand DNA while meeting the global market’s needs.
  • Recommend and research new ingredient stories, product textures and new fragrances by obtaining and partnering with Product Marketing on the latest innovations and information on formula/texture/ingredients and fragrances.

  • Proven ability to take complicated information and summarize the key messages for a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated skills with project management and knowledge of new product development lifecycle.
  • Must be great at finding solutions for product related issues as well as detailed oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, often-changing, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to execute under accelerated timeframes and quickly adapts to change in priorities
  • Minimum 5+ years color prestige color cosmetics product development experience
  • Passionate about the beauty industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with exceptional interpersonal skills.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $81,000 to $133,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
