Associate Marketing Director, Subscriptions

Subscriptions are a vital revenue source that supports our independent journalism. As we enter this next phase of expansion, we are looking for an experienced digital marketer to join our team and help lead the marketing and customer acquisition strategy for our growing subscriptions business.

The Associate Marketing Director will manage the full lifecycle marketing for the Endpoints News subscription business. You will help shape and implement an effective and efficient product marketing strategy that drives customer acquisition and improves retention for both our Insider and Enterprise subscription offerings. You should have experience developing, planning, launching, and analyzing subscriber acquisition and retention programs and account-based marketing campaigns.

The role will report to the Chief Revenue Officer.

What You’ll Do

Identify the Market - In coordination with the data and subscriptions sales teams, you’ll continually refine the potential customer universe and strongest prospects for both the Insider and Enterprise subscription products and execute relevant account-based marketing strategies to engage and efficiently acquire these customers.

Craft Customer Communications - Working closely with the tech, design, sales, and customer service teams, you’ll help develop and deliver effective marketing touchpoints throughout the customer journey - from pre-sale product messaging to marketing email templates to customer FAQ help docs to sales renewal collateral.

Manage the Funnel and Grow Revenue - By actively analyzing and optimizing the customer engagement cycle across our organic marketing ecosystem - as well as executing and managing paid customer acquisition campaigns, you’ll drive significant growth for the Insider subscriptions product and create meaningful leads for the Enterprise subs sales team.

How You’ll Do It

Be an Expert Partner - Through a sophisticated understanding of industry news and developments, as well as a strong knowledge of digital marketing dynamics, you’ll be an invaluable resource for your colleagues to understand how best to engage our readers and customers.

Bias for Action - From managing the marketing funnel to crafting customer communications to addressing internal challenges, you’ll actively bring ideas and solutions to the table, along with a willingness to execute on those in whichever ways you can most help.

Your Skills and Experience

  • 6+ years experience in marketing campaign creation, tracking, testing, and analytics
  • Proven track record developing and executing successful account-based marketing strategies based on customer acquisition cost goals and CLV analysis
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral. Comfortable regularly communicating strategy, results, and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Strong understanding of A/B testing, sophisticated measurement techniques, tracking pixels, and attribution models - including specific experience analyzing performance across platforms such as Marketing Cloud and/or Campaign Monitor (or a similar ESP), Parse.ly, GAM, Salesforce, and others
  • Experience marketing to customers in the Pharma, Biotech, CROs, CDMOs, Finance/VC, Healthcare, Consulting, and Tech categories a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in driving paid acquisition across major ad platforms (Google, LinkedIn, etc.). Proven ability to efficiently manage a paid marketing budget
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to make fast progress with a wide mandate

Base Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000
