We are currently seeking an experienced and strategic Brand Marketing Director to join our innovative marketing team and lead our Diabetes Brand Strategy. As the Brand Marketing Director, you will play a pivotal role in transforming Diabetes by owning the development of a compelling long-term brand vision that guides how we show up internally and externally for customers. The candidate will build and articulate the brand architecture, develop brand book for global consistency, and brand stewardship across all touchpoints. They will build, communicate, and protect the Diabetes brand, while driving worldwide brand equity.

This position is based in Northridge, CA. Remote may be considered for exceptional candidates preferably based in Northern or Southern California or in Minneapolis, MN.

A Day in the Life
  • Partner with Marketing Operations to develop the infrastructure for managing digital assets globally and supporting process
  • Recruit and manage relationships with external agencies and vendors in the development and ongoing management of the Medtronic Diabetes brand
  • Craft a meaningful and differentiated Medtronic Diabetes brand expression from core narrative to creative expression to bring the brand expression to life across all touchpoints and audiences
  • Brand Strategy Development: This leader will reimagine the diabetes brand position and marketing strategy, providing creative direction and thought leadership in the visual, verbal, and written expressions for our business.
    • Craft a meaningful and differentiated Medtronic Diabetes brand expression from core narrative to creative expression to bring the brand expression to life across all touchpoints and audiences
    • Recruit and manage relationships with external agencies and vendors in the development and ongoing management of the Medtronic Diabetes brand
    • Partner with Marketing Operations to develop the infrastructure for managing digital assets globally and supporting process
    • Create briefs to guide company-wide brand strategy and delivery
  • Create briefs to guide company-wide brand strategy and delivery
  • Be the Medtronic Diabetes brand evangelist and ensure full, consistent execution of the Medtronic Diabetes brand across the organization (marketing, sales, verticals etc.) and with external partners (enterprise customers, channel partners, etc.) in all communications
  • Develop, implement and oversee adherence to Medtronic Diabetes brand guidelines across all content and communications
  • Refresh all existing collateral and communications to express the evolved Medtronic Diabetes brand and create an ongoing, evergreen library of creative assets for broad use
  • Rally the organization around the Medtronic Diabetes brand story and expression
  • Serve as a Brand Champion for the business: Own the articulation of Diabetes positioning, brand promise, brand architecture, and other elements of the brand strategy and it continues to evolve. Drive brand consistency, build customer connectivity, and grow brand awareness.
    • Be the Medtronic Diabetes brand evangelist and ensure full, consistent execution of the Medtronic Diabetes brand across the organization (marketing, sales, verticals etc.) and with external partners (enterprise customers, channel partners, etc.) in all communications
    • Rally the organization around the Medtronic Diabetes brand story and expression
    • Develop, implement and oversee adherence to Medtronic Diabetes brand guidelines across all content and communications
    • Refresh all existing collateral and communications to express the evolved Medtronic Diabetes brand and create an ongoing, evergreen library of creative assets for broad use
  • Develop, maintain and optimize foundational brand identity and architecture systems to support the product portfolio strategy
  • Product Naming and Product Brand Architecture
    • Develop, maintain and optimize foundational brand identity and architecture systems to support the product portfolio strategy
  • Set performance goals, track and manage brand awareness and perception metrics in partnership with Market Research
  • Measure and report on brand awareness and sentiment

  • Stay ahead of market and competitive trends to make sure brand and value proposition resonates with customers
  • Partner across functions to ensure brand standards and needs are being met. Critical stakeholders include patient marketing, HCP marketing, product marketing, sales, R&D, regional marketers, and the Medtronic enterprise brand team
  • Conduct market research and usability testing to ensure designs meet customer requirements to create exceptional user-centric applications and tools.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team that consists of Brand, Marcomm/Graphic Design, UX/UI
Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant brand experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant brand experience
  • 7+ years of managerial experience.

Nice to Have
  • Experience working with internal and agency teams to develop digital content and materials to support the brand
  • Deep experience leading brand strategy, brand architecture, and brand introduction
  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare landscape, including understanding of medical terminology, regulatory requirements, and compliance considerations
  • Advanced degree/MBA preferred
  • Proven experience in Brand marketing within the healthcare or consumer industry
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to develop and execute integrated marketing plans across geographies and product lines and customer types
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with and influence cross-functional teams and external partners

In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals. Learn more about total rewards here .

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico). Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, etc.
