Associate General Counsel, Virtual Pet Care

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for an Associate General Counsel, Virtual Pet Care to join our Legal, Risk and Corporate Responsibility Team based in Seattle, WA. This position is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a fast-paced, dynamic Legal Department supporting business opportunities and regulatory compliance issues in the animal health arena. This position will report to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel.

What you'll do:

• Collaborate with and manage external legal counsel
• Develop policies and procedures to ensure operational compliance, and audit for compliance
• Research issues related to connecting Chewy technology offerings, including veterinary practice management systems, to veterinary clinics to further strengthen the working relationship between the veterinary community and Chewy
• Partner with the business in developing and implementing philanthropic opportunities to support the veterinary community
• Partner with the business to design and implement animal health and related solutions that are complementary to services provided by the veterinary community to create a virtuous care ecosystem among the pet, pet parent, veterinarian, and Chewy
• Monitor applicable legislation and advise on potential business impact
• Research, including 50-state surveys, legal and compliance issues associated with the provision of animal health services and products
• Partner with the business to develop business expansion opportunities and corresponding risk mitigation strategies; support M&A activity
• Manage Board of Vet Medicine relationships
• Represent Chewy with select animal health industry associations
• Review and monitor online animal health content
• Lead counsel for Chewy’s Connect with a Vet consultation service, which is offered nationwide, and the licensed veterinarians that support this offering

What you'll need:

• 12+ years relevant legal experience, with a mix of law firm and in-house
• Some travel required
• Member of the FL/WA Bar or ability to obtain in-house license
• Entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to move quickly; Intellectually curious and willingness to learn new areas of law and business
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Multijurisdictional veterinary law experience preferred

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $156,000-$302,500. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k, an annual bonus potential, new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
