Associate Director of FP&A - Boston, MA - BioTech

A clinical-stage Biotech company focused on creating medicines for people with psychiatric and neurological conditions is looking to hire an Associate Director of FP&A within their R&D division. Reporting to the Director of FP&A, this position will be responsible for supporting the R&D focused financial planning process, quarterly management reporting and ad-hoc financial analyses. In addition, the role will support the quarterly close process with collecting functional accruals and spend actualization, as well as scaling the finance organization in anticipation of potential product commercialization.

The ideal candidate must have experience with R&D and/or CMC - Preclinical (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Control).

Responsibilities:

• Provide financial analysis by conducting actuals vs budget comparison, variance analysis, trends, and in preparation of financial results
• Develop and maintain functional and corporate reports in the financial planning system and work with the business to improve existing reports
• Partner with accounting team to support quarterly close and SEC filings, including responsibility for some functional accruals
• Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and analytical support as needed
• Improve each corporate function’s visibility to their financial results and purchase orders
• Conduct the budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning process for R&D functions with specific focus on CMC, Clinical and Pre-Clinical functions
• Assist with Finance-scaling projects such as the implementation of a new financial planning and ERP systems and improvement of existing tools

Required Qualifications:

• Highly motivated, decisive, and results-oriented individual with the flexibility and creativity to excel in a rapidly growing company
• Excellent verbal and written skills, allowing for an open and effective dialogue throughout the company
• Expert Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Office suite, Oracle ERP/EPM a plus
• BS/BA degree; MBA preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to facilitate interaction with all levels of the organization and outside audiences
• High level of financial problem-solving skills; works effectively to identify issues, gather relevant data, and provide solution-based recommendations
• Broad experience in an emerging, publicly traded company environment is a plus
