Head Of Translational Medicine - Biotech

Mantell Associates is partnered with a fast-growing Biotech organisation who are seeking a Head of Translational Medicine to join their skilled team.

Head of Translational Medicine - Responsibilities:

• Work closely with our CEO and CMO to oversee translational sciences, early clinical development, and early regulatory affairs across a range of potential oncology indications
• Ensure that our clinical-stage antibody programs are on track to reach related objectives and milestones within timelines, in partnership with the clinical operations team, CMO & CEO
• Identify key areas of opportunity for applying translational and clinical sciences strategies, best practices, and experimental methods to clinical-stage product candidates and related development programs
• Communicate scientific progress to management and stakeholders, present work at both internal and external meetings as well as to our Board of Directors
• Lead the integration of translational strategy with preclinical research, leveraging your pharmacology and toxicology knowledge to oversee the execution of phase-appropriate in vitro and in vivo studies
• Build the translational medicine function and provide translational leadership to scientific teams supporting clinical programs and make clear recommendations on project or study research strategies, decisions and key next steps
• Apply your broad immunology and oncology drug development expertise to interpret and present study results internally, to executive decision-making bodies and to external stakeholders
• Identify KOLs, clinical experts and other consultants (individually and via SABs) to define precision medicine approach, translation plan, and preclinical package to support Compass programs at IND and clinical development
• Establish and execute translational research strategies that support our R&D & clinical programs

Head of Translational Medicine - Requirements:

• Proven experience leading oncology, immunology or immuno-oncology drug development
• 20+ years of industry experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology organization in the preclinical and translational space
• Demonstrated ability in implementing translational strategies in clinical drug development, extensive pharmacology and pharmacokinetics experience with monoclonal and bispecific antibodies, strong record of translational and/or scientific research productivity preferred
• Ability to develop new leaders, engage scientists, and effectively delegate key priorities
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and excellent organizational skills
• Experience with regulatory submissions, creating regulatory documents (INDs, CTAs, NDAs etc.) and interacting with global regulatory agencies
• Strong interpersonal, influencing, problem solving, and collaboration skills that cross scientific disciplines involved in R&D, clinical operations, and drug development
• PhD or equivalent advanced degree in pharmacology or toxicology in the field of oncology, immunology, or a related area
• Comfortable with balancing project objectives and ability to prioritize multiple tasks while keeping to timelines, in a fast-faced environment
