Compensation: $93,200 to $106,000

About the position:


The purpose of the Associate Director, Donor Stewardship role is to help foster a comprehensive understanding among members of the Development Department of Americares priorities, programs and impact across all program areas . They play an important, centralized role in sourcing, developing and distributing content that the Foundation Relations, Strategic Partnerships, Individual Philanthropy and Direct Response teams can use and adapt for donor communications and stewardship. They are stewards of the Americares brand, messaging, objectives and outcomes and support the ways in which donors can engage with Americares through philanthropic support.


Key Outcomes:


In the first 90 day s , the Associate Director will have established deep working relationships with key members of Development, Marketing & Communications, Programs and Finance teams, as well has a deep knowledge of Americares strategy, operational priorities, budget and programs. They will have enough familiarity with the various sources of donor stewardship content to serve as the primary point of contact for members of Development seeking collateral/messaging/impact stories/multimedia assets/etc. They will begin managing programmatic fundraising pipeline tracker for private funding opportunities.


In the first 6 months, the Associate Director will creat e a 12-month Stewardship plan and calendar, with input from multiple stakeholders across the Development department . They will develop a strategy for enhancing donor-facing cases for support and begin to execute on that strategy . They will be able to lead all internal communications to the Development Department in a sudden onset emergency response phase. They will be able to provide high-quality funding proposal and report writing and budget development support to members of the Development Department for private proposals. They will c reate and roll out a system for prioritizing grant support to members of Development.


In the first year, the Associate Director will be a leading voice in the Development Department in being able to communicate the value of Americares programs and impact . They will act as a key departmental resource in understanding and communicating programmatic fundraising priorities and gap-to-goal. They will also be the key resource for Development department in understanding Americares funding/program cycle SOP .


Duties and Responsibilities :


  • Lead internal communications and donor outreach content development for Development around emergency responses.
  • Liaise with Marketing and Communications Department to ensure big-picture alignment on priority campaigns, stories, multimedia products and messages throughout the year to advance fundraising goals.
  • Lead the development of collateral for priority fundraising areas, including regular programmatic updates; cases for support; capacity statements and PowerPoints; and event talking points.
  • Restricted funding proposals and reports by working with members of Foundation Relations, Strategic Partnerships, Individual Philanthropy as well as with the Programs and Finance teams to source and write narratives and budgets.
  • Track and communicate programmatic funding priorities and goals, progress against those goals and manage programmatic fundraising pipeline tracker .
  • Work with gift officers/prospect managers to create customized stewardship plans for enterprise-level donors; support the coordination and execution of donor-specific stewardship plans, working with gift officer/prospect manager, Mar keting and Communications , Programs team members, etc.

  • You have prior experience that highlights attention to detail and a results-oriented working style
  • You have language skills in at least one of our core languages , other than English : Spanish, Tagalog, Hindi, Kiswahili, Haitian Creole (this would be a plus, but is not a requirement)
  • You have above average competency in using Excel, PowerPoint and/or other presentation programs (this would be a plus, but is not a requirement)
  • Y ou have US work authorization ( required )
  • You have experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Tableau or other data visualization programs and donor databases (this would be a plus, but is not a requirement)
  • You have familiarity with humanitarian aid, international development, global health and/or public health themes, concepts and trends (this would be a plus, but is not a requirement)
  • You are able to thrive both in a team and independently in a remote work environment
  • You are self-starter with a commitment to ongoing learning and curiosity
  • You have demonstrated experience in donor communications, including experience writing for a range of audiences and are comfortable varying tone and voice (minimum of 2-3 years)
  • You have significant demonstrated experience in research, analysis and technical writing (grant writing or other) in a nonprofit or for-profit business context (minimum of 2-3 years)
  • You have demonstrated experience in building strong working relationships across internal stakeholders
  • You are highly organized and can develop and execute on processes that promote efficiencies
