Job Description

About The Role

The Product Manager for Meat Taste will focus on the vitality of Direct Taste and Meat Taste Systems for the Meat end-use-market (EUM).

Driving performance of the portfolio through technology and design differentiation, leveraging breadth and depth of core Kerry technologies to build value for Meat EUM and ensure the product offering is equipped to stay ahead of competition. Manage the relevant components of the technology portfolio in terms of design, complexity, rationalization, internal promotion, production, and procurement.


Key responsibilities

  • Works with technical management to initiate and set up training programs
  • Tracks usage of tools and technologies and resolves issues where usage is low or nonexistent
  • For large wins containing new technology works with regional finance and supply chain to ensure smooth delivery and profitability
  • Partner with the VP Meat Taste Business Development manager and Regional Collections Manager to communicate products and value, so that the most relevant and valuable products can be layered into our EUM strategies and sales with customers
  • Helps deliver Sales and Gross Margin targets through careful cost monitoring, close collaboration w/ Operations and pricing recommendations
  • Drive consistency in processes that support and enable the portfolio, including partnering with Operations representatives to align on MOQs, SLAs
  • Maintains existing sales by managing risks and issues related to existing products (in concert with other groups such as Regulatory, etc.)
  • Works with Taste Creation and MTS Lead to upload new flavors and collections
  • Implements pricing strategy (in coordination with regional finance and VP Business Development Meat Taste)
  • Synthesise and communicate requirements to Operations based on key product plans (including SLAs and MOQs for priority accounts); review and forecast capacity constraints
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of competitor products, communicates changes and recommends corrective responses
  • Collaborates with global PM’s and purchasing to monitor key commodity market conditions and determine inventory positions
  • Work in partnership with Global Technology and Innovation to identify, articulate, and define business cases for Innovation projects to drive differentiation in the sub technology and related taste tonalities
  • Partnership with Operations on capacity, long term forecasts, raw material issues for taste technology
  • Review technical feasibility for single or multi-technology opportunities that involve Foundational Technology capability
  • Communicates updated toolbox and manual to technical group
  • Owns the Definition, Development and Commercialization of any regionally-driven product development efforts
  • Owns Vitality of Collections (Performance – Regulatory – CIU)
  • Identifies non-performing products and recommends deletion where appropriate (in coordination with Collections Manager)


Qualifications And Skills

  • Minimum 12 years hands-on flavor training and creation, or Certification from the Society of Flavor Chemists plus a minimum of 5 additional years of creation experience.
  • Good math skills for problem-solving calculations.
  • Comfortable in a chemical laboratory setting exposed to strong odors and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams at multi levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrates passion for flavor creations
  • Good background in organic chemistry, food chemistry, flavor applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Life Sciences, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Demonstrates strong and discerning sense of smell and taste.
