Assistant Research Scientist-School of Social Work

Job Summary
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create and manipulate data sets, including large state and national datasets, for various evaluation designs.
- Implement pre-determined rules to code data, create data dictionaries, and interpret data dictionaries.
- Use SQL, SAS, SPSS, or other software to read in/set up data files, clean and merge datasets from various

- Recommend, review and lead in the development of appropriate statistical analyses, data analysis plans,

Minimum Qualifications
Master's in Social Work or Civil Engineering. Experience with big datasets, especially healthcare data is required.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Social Work or Civil Engineering, or two years of Ph.D. coursework in advanced statistical classes and experience submitting associated manuscripts. Two years of experience writing Python, SQL, SAS, or R code for data analyses/management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Required: 1. Knowledge of SQL, SAS, SPSS, and/or STATA programs. 2. Experience analyzing Medicaid data or working with medical claims or similar data. 3. Knowledge of advanced statistical methods such as machine learning and Bayesian network analyses. 4. Ability to articulate the associated findings, including experience submitting peer-reviewed publications of advanced statistical models. 5. Ability to work in a team environment 6. Ability to articulate steps in a process (logic in thinking) 7. Knowledgeable about working in an applied research setting 8. Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal, time management, coordinating, organizational, and solution-focused skills.
- Preferred: 1. Skills in advanced statistical techniques preferred, including Propensity Score Matching, Interrupted Time Series Designs, Difference-in-Difference Design, MLM/HLM, Mediation/Moderation models, Resampling/Bootstrapping techniques, GEE, and/or Advanced Survey Sampling.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the job posting closes. Salary is commensurate with experience.
