Assistant Registrar Jobs

The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Registrar in its’ Collection Management and Exhibition Registration Department. Reporting to the Registrar for Exhibitions, the incumbent works independently on collection tasks related to acquisitions, gallery changes, and collection care for objects of all mediums.

Additional Responsibilities Include

• Creates, compiles, and maintains all related documentation, including packing and installation instructions, and tracks installation costs and staffing needs for future planning.
• Arranges packing, shipping, and insurance for objects entering the collection, creating detailed records of objects/components, condition reporting, and the ongoing assessment of long-term housing needs.
• Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.

Requirements

• General knowledge of 20th-century art and familiarity with artists' materials is also required, including facility with time-based media objects.
• Experience with The Museum System.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail are essential. Reading knowledge of French and/or another language, in addition to English.
• Bachelor’s degree or bachelor of fine arts degree (master’s degree preferred) and minimum three years related experience in the field, preferably in an art museum with ambitious exhibitions, acquisitions, and outgoing loan programs or equivalent.
• The Museum participates in the TSA’s Certified Cargo Screening Facility Program. Therefore, any individual hired must successfully complete a security threat assessment through the Department of Homeland Security in order to participate.

Salary : The salary for this position is $74,370 per annum
