Job Description

Duties

  • Oversees contracts related to pest control services;
  • Orders and distributes uniforms for selected personnel;
  • Advises, supervises, or performs work involving the development, coordination, direction, and management of hospital housekeeping operations and personnel;
  • Establishes standards, schedules, and completes reports to ensure proper precautions and regulatory agency requirements are met;
  • Interviews and selects applicants for appointment and promotion, evaluates performance, maintains discipline, trains, orients, and motivates employees;
  • Manages a linen delivery system with local contractors for the cleaning of linen, inventory, and employee uniforms;
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Performs assignments and projects concerning the operations of a healthcare delivery system;
  • Determines the need for specialized cleaning supplies, equipment, and methods for ensuring an adequate EOC for humans and animals;
  • Participates on workgroups, conference calls, Microsoft Teams, and multiple committees;
  • Develops and maintains an effective waste removal program;
  • Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations regarding Environment of Care (EOC) practices and criteria in all administrative and clinical areas;
  • Establishes work standards and develops/revises work-flow procedures;
  • Uses data, analytical methods, and procedures to analyze problems, implement solutions, and evaluate impact;
  • Plans and schedules work to gain the most effective and efficient utilization of personnel to achieve the operational goals of the service;
  • Supervises housekeeping operations and oversees the cleaning and disinfecting of the hospital campus;
  • Oversees all laundry and linen services;
  • Plans, organizes, conducts, and manages an effective hospital housekeeping program;
  • Maintains environmental sanitation within acceptable levels of bacteriological and visual cleanliness conducted by environmental personnel;
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-12: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in Federal service, and must have been gained in two or more of the following areas, or other work related to the position to be filled: experience that demonstrated a practical working knowledge of the basic principles of chemistry, biology, and bacteriology as applied to environmental sanitation, infection control, and to the choice and use of antimicrobial agents in the disinfection, sanitization, and/or sterilization of surfaces and equipment; experience in laundry and linen management; experience in interior design management; experience that demonstrated a knowledge of waste management, including the requirements relating to hazardous, toxic, and infectious wastes and provisions for their final disposition; and/or experience that demonstrated a knowledge of pest management, including alternative methods of control and the selection and application of chemicals. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.

Additional information

Physical Requirements: Work is mostly sedentary, generally performed in an office setting, and involves very little physical effort. Some walking, standing, and occasional moderate lifting are required. Work is generally performed in a typical office setting with adequate heat, light, and ventilation.
Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience.
