Job Details:
Purpose
To direct and coordinate the day-to-day maintenance, repair, renovation and operations of the Marine Science Institute. Develop, maintain, and monitor plans for the condition, quality, appearance, and safety of the facilities, grounds, and equipment. To liaise with Campus Construction on all capital projects.
Responsibilities
  • Managing all facilities operations for Marine Science Institute (MSI) and the Fisheries and Mariculture Laboratory campus. Provide managerial and technical support in guiding and directing the administration and operational services of the maintenance, grounds, custodial, cafeteria, boat operations and IT staff.
  • Manage all assigned staff, which includes supervision, mentorship, performance management/evaluation, training, and corrective action. Assist supervisors with emergency situations and provide technical expertise to solve problems. Provide ongoing training to staff, including health and safety requirements and other job-related issues.
  • Develop preventive maintenance programs for facilities and support systems and monitor program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Manage the building, office and laboratory repairs and renovations, including electrical, HVAC, laboratory support systems, communications and IT infrastructure. Conduct preventive maintenance program for facilities and support systems and monitor program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Work with MSI leadership on facilities budget management, prioritize budgeted projects and strategic planning.
  • Coordinate and monitor maintenance requests, process work order forms, find solutions to correct problems, locate materials and parts, and review daily work logs and reports to ensure efficient work practices and/or correct operation errors.
  • Coordinate and develop scope of work with job order contractors and professional service providers
  • Coordinate with the security manager to prepare and maintain all-hazards plan and liaise with local authorities for purposes of emergency preparedness and response.
  • Represent MSI interests with UT campus construction project managers on capital improvement projects
Required Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects
  • Minimum of 7 years experience managing operations & maintenance of a facility, three years of supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, business administration, construction management, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of coastal building codes and materials
  • Experience managing large infrastructure projects involving power generation, mechanical and electrical distribution, construction management, facilities and maintenance, and environmental health and fire safety
  • Master's degree in architecture, business administration, construction management, engineering, or a related field
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
Salary Range
$90,000+ commensurate with experience
Working Conditions
  • May require occasional extended work hours or on-call
  • May be exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, high pressure and high-speed equipment
  • Exposure to construction hazards including extreme temperatures, dust, noise, heights, fumes, and adverse weather conditions.

Work Shift
  • On-call and weekends as needed.
  • 40 hours a week Monday-Friday
