Job Summary
Manage all aspects of one or more projects valued from $200k to several million dollars from project study phase through project execution, construction and commissioning to completion on a cement plant in the USA. This position will have a highly technical focus to support the company’s strategic initiatives for CO2 reduction and efficiency increase.
Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe work place and strive for zero occupational injuries, accidents and environmental incidences.
  • Uring the commissioning phase, supervises and/or coordinates engineering and construction contractors and internal staff to timely stabilize the normal operation of the installations. This function may be required across multiple projects, also some under other Project Managers responsibility.
  • Responsible for project budget and schedule.
  • Responsible for improving existing equipment installations or eliminate bottlenecks for the purpose of improving safety, operations, efficiencies and/or environmental compliance. Present these designs to management for authorization to pursue further study or funding, and -when funding has been obtained- lead the project execution.
  • Prepare requests of proposals, evaluate proposal responses.
  • Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors execution, and summarizes progress of project.
  • Responsible for preparing feasibility studies, developing conceptual designs, managing projects and overseeing design and engineering functions for special projects to improve efficiencies and reduce cement plants CO2 emissions.
  • Conducts analysis of the project to improve the development, and coordinates with other areas in a team effort, to ensure that all problems are identified, addressed and timely solved
  • Timely and periodically prepares reports for management regarding status of project including project budget and schedule.
  • Ordinate contractor activities with plant operations.
  • This position is a specialized Project Management position that may interact with multiple projects, and technical coordination across these projects will be required.
  • Interface with and address ongoing design issues and requests for information (RFI’s) within the company engineering and construction companies. Review and approve vendor and engineering drawings as needed.
Qualifications
  • Strong safety focus
  • At least 10 years of experience in a project execution function with a technical content and directly related to the cement industry
  • MSHA Certification required (or must obtain within reasonable period)
  • Mechanical Engineering or BS Civil or other relevant degree
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Adept in the use of project management software.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and contractors with budgetary oversight of these.
  • Experience with selection of contractors and implementing contract agreements for these.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to employees and others.
  • High-level computer proficiency is required including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Projects and AutoCAD
  • Maintain confidentiality in daily operations.
  • Strong experience evaluating & managing costs associated with projects; experience developing project budgets.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in cement processes, product technology and general initiatives to reduce cement plants CO2 footprint by means of utilizing alternative fuels, carbon capture & sequestration etc.
  • Experience developing documents for project proposals, evaluating proposals’ responses
  • Able to interface with all departmental (environmental, planning, operations, etc.) needs and requirements as well as with governmental agencies.
  • Strong supervisory or management experience.
Working Conditions
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location
  • Occasional exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
Physical Requirements
  • Heavy Work-Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
