Position Announcement


Utah Valley University is seeking an Assistant Director! The Assistant Director directs and coordinates the day-to-day operations of IT Desktop Support. Supports and enforces campus technology standards. Develops and maintains policies and procedures. Mentors and trains new and existing employees. Gathers statistics and evaluates data for department and university IT quality assurance. Diagnoses and repairs workstations for end users. Performs regular hardware and software maintenance.


Summary Of Responsibilities


  • Diagnoses and repairs workstations for end users. Maintains devices and ancillary equipment such as workstations, laptops, printers, and tablets. Performs regular hardware and software maintenance.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
  • Direct and coordinate the day to day operations of IT Desktop Support.
  • Mentors and trains new and existing employees.
  • Gathers statistics and evaluates data for department and university IT quality assurance.


Minimum Qualifications


Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor\'s degree in a directly related field and two years experience related to the Summary of Duties or a combination of education and/or experience totaling six years.


Preferred Qualifications


Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus three years of experience related to the essential functions/duties of the position, is preferred


Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities


Knowledge


  • Knowledge of endpoint security software configuration and support.
  • Knowledge of imaging software such as WDS, SmartDeploy or SCCM.
  • Knowledge with iOS, Android, Windows, and any other operating systems on tablets and smart phones.
  • Knowledge of directory-based authentication (Active Directory).
  • Knowledge of various computer applications such as Microsoft Office, internet browsers, email systems and other general applications.
  • Knowledge of installing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware and software problems and researching technical issues on MAC OSX and/or Windows OS.
  • Knowledge of Outlook, Mac OSX, and Windows OS.
  • Knowledge of installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting peripheral devices such as printers (local and network), scanners.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and application network protocols, firewall management, operating system configuration.
  • Knowledge of procedures and software for backing up and restoring data.


Skills


  • Skill in staffing, training, and supervising.
  • Skill in troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, and maintaining computers and printers.
  • Skills in communicating in verbal and written form.
  • Skills in working continuously on a task until completion.
