Assistant Construction Manager - Actalent

The Project Sites where the positions will be located are in Western and Central NY (Rochester or Utica). The Assistant Construction Manager will be required to either relocate or be located in the region as the responsibility requires daily onsite presence. This job opening is specifically for a large, multi-year waste water industrial project (Webster Waste Water Treatment Plant).

As a Assistant Construction Manager you will be reporting to the Construction Manager, and Project Managers. Tasks may vary depending on skill set and abilities. However the Construction Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day onsite construction management of a project. You will be part of the company's onsite team tasked with making sure project implementation with our trade partners is coordinated, project and company standards are met, and ensuring a positive Client experience. Our corporate office is in Olathe, Kansas, but we work with clients throughout the country, and the Construction Manager position is located at each job site.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect Equipment upon delivery and inventory delivery tickets.
• Offer help to co-workers before they ask.
• Identify potential issues and solve problems.
• Develop, maintain, and update the overall project schedule as well as short term and long term planning with project team.
• Ensure subcontractors, vendors, and all site personnel including visitors live up to our safety standards and maintain a healthy safe working environment.
• Treat clients and project partners better than they expect.
• Leave things more organized than you found them.
• Ensure client concerns are resolved in a timely manner.
• Review contracts, submittals, and installation documents to verify completeness and installation compliance.
• Coordinate work between trades or subcontractors.
• Assist engineering team in writing and reviewing scopes of the work.
• Review and approve daily work tickets and maintain daily logs of work performed onsite.
• Responsible for jobsite mobilization, movement, and demobilization logistics.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and consultants.
• Prepare, log, file and distribute Construction Manager daily reports.
• Schedule and deliver training to facility personnel when turning over building.
• Manage project costs and changes in scope.
• Assist engineering team with subcontractor, vendor, and supplier bid procurement.
• Manage close out punch list and commissioning activities in a timely manner.
• Work closely with Construction Manager to ensure project success.
• Eliminate waste and cut unnecessary costs.
• Resolve subcontractor disputes.
• Regularly communicate, formally and informally, company goals, policies, plans and priorities to field personnel.
• Identify, plan, coordinate, and execute critical work items.

Skills

Must Have

• Experience professionally using MS Office and MS Projects
• At least 1 internship in construction (trades, reviewing drawings, specs, design plans) up to 3 years
• BA/BS Degree in construction management, mechanical engineer, electrical engineering, architecture engineering, or facilities management
• Has experience to walk through commercial building process
