Job Description

A quick summary about the Arena Experience & Operations Manager role:


As the Arena Experience & Operations Manager – Events you will be working closely with the Director of Arena Experience & Operations and senior leadership, you will coordinate all facets of events in the Amway Center, with an emphasis on Orlando Magic events. You will be responsible for managing an efficient, productive, and consistent working relationship between the Orlando Magic and the Amway Center building partners to deliver legendary experiences.


What the Arena Experience & Operations Manager – Events will do:


  • Oversee small and mid-scale inner departmental and external departmental projects.
  • Support the Director of Arena Experience with research and implementation of NBA initiatives and standards; and maintain ongoing NBA Arena Operations Manual Standards with Orlando Venues at Amway Center.
  • Supports some elements of internal employee recognition program, the Legendary 365 Program, as directed.
  • Supervise all events, maintenance and access for the Amway Center Practice Court.
  • Review event night reports, incident reports and regularly collect feedback post-event to identify methods to streamline overall event processes with internal departments and external building partners.
  • Partner with the Director of Arena Experience & Operations to act as the liaisons between all Orlando Magic staff and Amway Center Administration for all issues regarding the use of the arena for Orlando Magic home games and small non-gameday events (i.e., building walkthroughs game/event day needs), along with the box office and all premium areas for all non-Magic events at the Amway Center (i.e. concerts, family shows, etc.).
  • Coordinate all non-game day Magic events that will be held at Amway Center (i.e. Ticket Sales events, camps/clinics, etc.).
  • Manage Amway Center building access for all Magic visitors, vendors, etc.
  • Lead oversight of all general Amway Center operations, including acting as Manger on Duty for all events and concerts as needed.
  • Partner with the Director of Arena Experience & Operations to ensure that all entities of the Amway Center are operating in accordance with the Use Agreement and the Orlando Magic’s standards and protocols (i.e., cleanliness, concessions, functionality).
  • Overseeing processes such as contracts/research/quotes/etc. in relation to strategic/organizational projects and annual needs/goals.
  • Manage all game day preparations including detailed walkthroughs of each level of the Amway Center.
  • Provide support to fiscal and project budgeting for the Arena Experience & Operations department.
  • Lead long-term planning and development initiatives for Magic hospitality events.
  • Manage the Arena Operations office staff (direct reports).
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Oversee all event requirements and needs for each department, which includes the compilation of requests into one single event document for every Orlando Magic game or event in Amway Center.


What the Arena Experience & Operations Manager – Events needs to have:


  • Ability to work collaboratively with others whom you have no direct authority over.
  • Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience required.
  • CAD experience is a preferred.
  • Minimum of two years supervisor experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a sports arena, stadium or facilities or required.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required.
  • Ability to work all Magic home games (41-45 annually) plus a number of non-Magic events. This includes the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department.
  • Minimum of three years coordinating, scheduling, or managing large scale events preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills.


Physical Requirements


  • Occasional lifting of heavier objects up to 40 lbs +. necessary when setting up for events.
  • Capability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • Position will be required to stand and be on feet for prolonged periods of time during event shifts.
