Job Description

ou believe that people want to come together to care for the most vulnerable, yet they struggle to know who to help and how to connect. You know that children shouldn't pay the highest price when families face extreme hardships and you want to see the Church and the Community come together to care together. Colleagues would describe you as an organizational leader with a keen intellect, a compassionate heart, a strong bias for action - a coalition builder committed to facilitating unity (meaning concerted activity, not uniformity). Your ability to lead teams with clarity and humility while building relational partnerships to achieve measurable results positions you to be a positive agent for change.

CarePortal (CP) is a connecting technology that drives action for local kids and families in crisis. We subscribe to the vision that through the Church and Community, there can be More Than Enough care for kids before, during and beyond foster care. The goal is transformation from child welfare to family well-being in the lives of hurting children/families, the Church, and the Community. We develop robust Care-Sharing Networks and lead with Courage, Humility, and Excellence.

Area Director - Washington DC

Over the last few years, CarePortal has been in rapid growth mode, and we are ready to build out our Washington DC. leadership team to serve thousands of the state’s most vulnerable citizens, with an initial focus on Washington, DC area. We do this through the local Church and in concert with child-serving agencies, businesses and people who care - that’s where you come in.

In this full-time role, you have a strong desire to see a better future for the families of Metro DC and we have proven plans to bring about just that. Up first, we’re looking to serve the greater DC area by assembling a highly-talented team while simultaneously partnering with an array of organizations to deliver healthy CarePortal ecosystems to local communities across Washington, DC. Beyond that, your leadership will help church partners to better serve their communities, child-serving agencies to experience lower staff turnover rates as case workers receive more community support, and local businesses to become empowered to meet real-time needs in meaningful, culture-building ways.

At CarePortal (CP), we believe that children belong in the care of healthy, loving families. And that families should be supported by a local church and caring members of their community. If you are ready to put your expertise to work for a mission you care deeply about, then join us and let’s get started as we go all out to close the front door of the foster care system in Washington, DC and beyond.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to lead in coordinated efforts with organizations of diverse perspectives, including the Church, government agencies, businesses and community partners.
  • Passion & demonstrated cultural competence in engaging the diversity of the whole Church & community.
  • 5+ year of progressive sales, operations or general management preferred.
  • Strong bias towards action and ability to thrive in fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Clear sense of calling to this role in this organization.
  • Proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and the ability to learn (and lead others on) new tech platforms quickly.
  • Dedicated to GO Project’s Mission and Core Values (Courage, Humility, and Excellence).
  • Confidence engaging in challenging discussions with business leaders.

The above description is not intended to be comprehensive, but rather a focused list of priorities. Success provides the opportunity to not only build a career, but also bring much-needed support and care to local children and families in crisis in the United States and around the world. Successful candidates, like all GO Project members, are expected to live and work consistent with GO Project’s vision, mission, and values.

The Global Orphan Project and CarePortal offers a competitive benefits package for full-time positions (30+ per week) including health, dental, vision and employer paid life insurance, retirement savings and generous PTO plan and a highly competitive, market-indexed compensation when compared to similar non-profit roles. Compensation is commensurate with relevant skills and experience and team members are not asked to raise any of their own financial support.
