Basic Function:
Coordinates, oversees, and provides administrative support which may include, but not limited to, an area desk or service desk function with supervision of a large number of student or temporary employees on a continual basis. Reports to designated supervisor.

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Functions as a working supervisor over a large number of student or temporary employees on a continual basis.
  • Assigns and monitors work activities.
  • May participate in the interviewing and selection of job applicants and the performance evaluation of assigned employees; may recommend personnel actions (e.g., hiring, termination, promotion, discipline, layoff/recall).
  • Coordinates workflow and schedule to ensure deadlines are met, priorities are recognized, and policies/procedures are followed.
  • Trains, assigns, and instructs employees on proper work procedures and policies.
Performs a variety of administrative functions (e.g., composes routine and non-routine correspondence, processes forms, responds to questions about the processing of forms, maintains a system of files, reviews and corrects work done by others in work unit, and generates reports).
Acts as liaison between supervisor work unit, students, and internal and external stakeholders to transmit information, directives, and decisions.
Maintains office policies and procedures; assists in the implementation of policies and procedures as assigned by supervisor.
Generates reports, audits for accuracy, and assists with occupancy management (e.g., temp keys, room hall changes, etc.).
Collaborates with interdepartmental units to enhance student engagement and on campus living experience (e.g., community events, linen rental information) and communicates information regarding activities, people, health and safety concerns, or any issues which may adversely impact the hall community.
Serve on various department, division and university committees when requested.
Leads monthly desk student staff meetings to discuss concerns, provide updates, create effective staff communication, and answer any questions.
Oversees equipment checkout policies and procedures; delivers items (e.g., carts, vacuum cleaners).
Oversees and maintains a daily log of observations and/or concerns.
Reports maintenance concerns in common areas.
Coordinates check-in and check-out processes throughout the academic year and summer.
Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year responsible administrative experience in an office or business setting including supervisory experience.
License/Certification:
Knowledge Of:
Office practices and procedures
Standard procedures for alphanumeric filing
Skill In:
Interpersonal communication to effectively interact with University personnel and public
Written communication (e.g., to compose routine and non-routine correspondence)
Specific software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other administrative programs)
Ability To:
Hire, train, develop and supervise student or temporary employees
Manage time and prioritize tasks for self and student staff
Carry out and assist in implementing changes
Operate a computer for word processing, data entry/retrieval, and data management
Apply and interpret policies and procedures
Analyze situations and assist in developing effective solutions
Read and comprehend a variety of written information
Operate and maintain various office equipment
Maintain accurate records
Classify information according to established methods
Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with University Housing and FERPA policies
Work with a diverse student population
