THE POSITION:
The Applications Developer III - Oracle & Automation, reporting to the Manager-IT, WMSAPPS DEV, will be one of the Sr. Technical Resources on the WMSAPPS Development team, and serves as a Corporate IT Co-Owner of the inhouse Oracle codebase, related Robotics & Warehouse Automations including related applications, databases, and tools. Ownership and responsibility for data flows, integrations, configuration, and documentation.

You’ll be responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with Barrett’s vision to WOW our customers, partners, and fellow employees with every interaction.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Provide day to day coaching and training to teams supporting internal WMS users & customers.
- Serve as a thought leader & contributing resource to the WMSAPPS Dev Team functions that currently exist and within all teams & vendors of the IT Department.
- Use and application of Kaizen, Lean, & Agile methodologies in the development lifecycle of company projects.
- NiceLabel Enterprise and related workflows & interfaces
- Follow company policies on source control management and best practices.
- In conjunction with Information Technology management, manage systemic improvements as they occur.
- Serve primarily as a Senior Development resource; approximately 75% DEV/25% Technical Leader
- Locus and 6River Systems Robotics and related interfaces
- Assists with the development and application of organization-wide information models for use in designing and building integrated systems.
- Lightning Pick and related interfaces
- Responsible for documenting and implementing ongoing configuration changes in Oracle, WMS, and related systems to support changing customer requirements.
- Responsible for developing applications and processes in a manner to provide an exemplary Internal & External customer experience.
- Work collaboratively with Internal Teams and External Customers to investigate and examine needs, issues, and concerns about current and future warehouse processes.
- Serve as a Mentor to the less senior members of the team.
- Resolve developmental issues in a timely, accurate, and customer service focused manner – ensuring issue is properly documented in appropriate IT Service Desk Tools
- Responsible for being a subject matter expert in the following areas:
- Oracle, Synapse WMS and closely related systems & tools.
- Locus and 6River Systems Robotics and related interfaces
- Lightning Pick and related interfaces
- NiceLabel Enterprise and related workflows & interfaces
- Oracle, Synapse WMS and closely related systems & tools.
- Occasional travel to Team Offsite Meetings, Customer Meetings, Vendor events, and warehouse locations required up to 25%
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred). Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Knowledge of Networking, Visual Basic &/or VB.NET and electronic interfacing methods (EDI, XML, Flat File, etc.) and related transport methods (EDI VAN, AS2, FTP, etc.) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, or related field required. 10+ years of equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proficient in all Microsoft business applications such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Direct experience in an industry with a strongly regulated or complex supply chain (Retail, Grocery, Medical, Automotive, etc.)
- Able to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines. Strong emphasis on organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Expert PL/SQL Skills, Oracle Database Platform, and reporting platform required.
- The desire to be part of a family-oriented, employee-centric organization that truly wants its team members to succeed
- Direct experience supporting a Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) package, or a Tier 1 ERP system with an advanced WMS module.
- Must demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills and both verbal and written communication skills with ability to work well under pressure and problem solve across a variety of business processes. Strong analytical skills with an ability to present views in a convincing, creative, clear, and impactful manner.
- Passion for the outstanding work you do
- Strong hands-on knowledge of supporting Supply Chain technologies & standards including UPC/GTINs, GS128/UCC128 Labeling, VICS Bills of Lading
- 10-15 years of experience in Supply Chain management and/or Business Management. Relevant experience in a logistics setting is preferred.
