Overview:
Oracle/PostgreSQL DBA
Remote, Local to Washington D.C. (1 day a week onsite may occur in the future)

Responsibilities
As an Oracle and PostgreSQL DBA you will support our federal customer. In this role, you will develop and support technical solutions to the ever-growing needs of the customers in database administration and warehousing areas.
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards that engineers, analysts, and data scientists use to drive key business decisions
  • Provide assistance to the team with troubleshooting, researching the root cause, and thoroughly resolving defects in the event of a problem
  • Develop code based automated data pipelines able to process millions of data points
  • Design, implement, and automate deployment of our distributed system for collecting and processing data from multiple sources
  • Drive architectural plans and implementation for future data storage, reporting, and analytic solutions
  • Work collaboratively with Business Analysts, Data Scientists, and other internal partners to identify opportunities/problems
  • Monitor and troubleshoot operational or data issues in the data pipelines
  • Improve database and data warehouse performance by tuning inefficient queries
  • Design data schema and operate internal data warehouses and SQL database systems
Requirements
  • Design, create, maintain and scale enterprise level databases as a part of technical solution to meet customer objectives and project requirements
  • Able to communicate effectively with high-level U.S. Government, senior management, internal customers, and external partners
  • Ability to demonstrate the proper techniques used for database backup and restoration, managing database performance and performing typical security lockdown procedures
  • Ensure database data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate solutions of varying complexities
  • Leverage open source platforms, tools, databases, front-end frameworks, and middleware
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing and managing enterprise-level databases using Oracle and PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with ATO/ Security accreditation processing and strategic security policy implementation
  • Be up to date on the current technology landscape, be technology agnostic, and have a passion for staying current and experimenting with new approaches and tools.
  • Support external audits and conduct audits of databases to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipeline
  • Document backup and recovery procedures, perform backups, automate and monitor logging
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud-based database solutions such as AWS RDS
  • Extensive experience in ETL, process mapping, and data transformation
  • Act as SME for customer-facing project delivery for data management, database administration and data analytics projects aimed at federal government
  • Monitor and configure database systems and databases to achieve optimum performance levels; Perform indexing, data partitioning and performance tuning as required
  • Provide operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex database management systems architected using a microservices framework
  • Provide thought leadership for innovative data solutions to address complex business problems
  • Lead complex database software installations, patching and upgrades to operating systems and related database software packages
Preferred Requirements
  • Familiarity with container technologies
  • Experience in Test Driven and Behavior Driven Development frameworks
  • Experience with improving performance on enterprise applications with large data
  • Familiarity with revision control systems such as Git/Github
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, business intelligence, economics, statistics, or mathematics is required
Clearance Requirements
