Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining/supporting application teams with database needs including but not limited to database administration, developing, integrating, testing, and maintaining existing and new databases; knowing one or more database environments; familiar with multiple delivery models and methodologies.

In addition to traditional DBA responsibilities, the DBA Specialist will also have development opportunities:

Traditional Development
  • Design, build and unit test highly scalable applications.
  • Provide maintenance support to applications as required supporting incident escalations.
  • Identify new technologies, trends, and opportunities.

Agile Development
  • Participate in sprint planning, design, coding, unit testing, sprint reviews.
  • Define & develop project requirements, functional specifications and detailed designs of application solutions for clients.
  • Assist in developing of technical documentation; participate in test-plan development, integration and deployment.
  • Provide basic design documents and translates into component-level designs to accelerate development. Design, develop, and distribute reusable technical components.

Required Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree and 8 years Information Technology experience OR Technical Certification and/or College Courses and 10 year Information Technology experience OR 12 years Information Technology experience.
  • Possess ability to sit and perform computer entry for entire work shift, as required.
  • Possess ability to manage workload, manage multiple priorities, and manage conflicts with customers/employees/managers, as applicable.
  • Expertise in Oracle:

Oracle Certified DB Professional (OCP)

ORACLE in a Production 19c RAC (ASM) Environment (19c)

Oracle ORMB

Troubleshooting Oracle Performance Issues

Dyntrace and Oracle OEM

Oracle Standby Datagaurd.

Upgrade/Database Patching for Stand-alone/Multiple node RAC clusters

Implementation of Backup/Recovery of the Oracle Database

Security Implementation/Enhancements of Oracle Databases

Performs Database Performance

Review/Design Code Frequently for Company Standards

Technical Support to Application Development Team

Preferred Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and desire to act as SME


NOTE: This hybrid role can be located in CHICAGO IL or RICHARDSON TX ~ relocation will not be offered.
