Major Duties


Under general supervision of the Systems and Operations Management (SOM) Department Chair, the Department Coordinator provides administrative support to the SOM Department of the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics (DNCBE). The incumbent serves as a resource person for the Department Chair, the Director for the MS in Business Analytics program, faculty, students, and visitors.


  • Provides budgetary support to the Department Chair, the Graduate Director, and DFO; assists with monitoring department expenditures and reconciling department funds.

  • Implements office procedures and manages office workflow; plans, organizes, coordinates and addresses problems proactively; frequently handles multiple projects and priorities.
  • Helps order supplies, equipment, and services, including the use of online chargebacks and requisitions; helps prepare schedule of classes each semester; manages the department websites, including Gateway (BUS 302) website and its on-line appointment system
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Equivalent to full-time college or university education/vocational school training in business or job-related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience."
  • Equivalent to five (5) years of full-time, progressively responsible administrative or technical office management experience in an administrative capacity exercising independent judgment and leading the work of others.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


  • Ability and specialized skills to: prepare letters, memos, and reports; transcribe minutes; make travel arrangements; analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions; apply judgment, discretion, and initiative in establishing priorities, providing follow-up and quality control.
  • Ability to use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist; understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas.
  • Ability to perform business math and analyze budgetary data; plan, organize, and lead or oversee the work of others; keep track of moderately complex records and files.
  • Capability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations.
  • Thorough mastery of: office methods, procedures, and practices; and correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Expertise in using standard office equipment, software packages, technology, and systems.


Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule


  • REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • The position is currently hybrid ( 4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3681 - $4066 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3681 - $6034 per month.
  • Classification / grade: 1035 / ASC / 2
