Job Description
Administrative Assistant II, Financial Assistance (C1302A)
The Administrative Assistant II for Financial Assistance at Cameron University provides secretarial and administrative support and is responsible for the daily front line functions of the department. This position is the key customer service representative for the Office of Financial Assistance and provides support for both Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs.
Job Duties as Administrative Assistant II include but are not limited to:
  • Professionally and efficiently execute Cameron University’s commitment to student success.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations.
  • Advises students and others on processes, procedures and services as they relate to financial aid and the institution as key player in front line operations.
  • Assists in training and supervision of student workers.
  • Provides departmental budget tracking, accounting support and reconciliation.
  • Maintains knowledge of policies of other departments (Registrar, Business Office, Human Resources, Athletics, etc.) and understands the impact on a student’s financial aid eligibility.
  • Researches and assist in resolution of student issues.
  • Assists with preparation and arrangements for special events and/or projects.
  • Understands and applies Title IV, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Tribal Higher Education and other related policies.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relations with students, faculty, staff and the general public.
  • Maintains general knowledge of information required to complete FAFSA.
  • Gathers information and prepares various reports, correspondence and memorandums.
  • Sort mail for proper distribution within the office or into campus mail and prepares outgoing mail and assures that high priority mail is handled expeditiously.
  • Prepares requisitions and purchase orders.
SUPERVISION: The Administrative Assistant II will report to the Director of Financial Assistance for general supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to coordinate multiple, complex tasks.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Graduate of a standard high school or equivalent.
  • Collaborative working style to help achieve department goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel & Word
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years directly related experience with Oracle and Ellucian (Banner) system in higher education.
  • Bilingual
SALARY: $25,000.00.
