Jackson County Public Health invites registered nurses to explore our exciting career opportunity within our Immunization Program. We seek highly enthusiastic individuals to improve the health of our community with your experience and talent.

Pre-Employment Requirements and/or Preferences

  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen prior to hire.
  • Preferred experience working for a local public health department.
  • Preferred knowledge on vaccine requirements, public health laws, and communicable disease.
  • Position will work 2-4 days per week, within 4-8-hour shifts.
  • It is a violation of the Jackson County’s Drug-Free Workplace policy to unlawfully manufacture, use, be under the influence of (per policy definition), possess, dispense, distribute, sell, trade, solicit, and/or offer for sale drugs, other substances, or chemicals identified in 21 CFR 1308.11 Schedule 1 (Code of Federal Regulations) including, but not limited to, synthetic or natural medical or recreational marijuana.   • Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Must pass a criminal background check prior to hire.
  • Current Oregon Registered Nurse license.
  • Preferred experience providing routine vaccinations to infants, children, and adults. This includes preparing, administering and storing vaccines, and providing patient education on vaccinations.

Job Duties and Requirements

EXAMPLES OF TASKS: (Position may not include all of the tasks listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in this position)

  • Under general supervision, the Extra Help Public Health Nurse will perform a variety of duties including planning, implementing and delivering community health nursing services such as assessment, care delivery, education, and counseling.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration
OR
  • An Oregon RN with a Bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing or healthcare administration AND two years public health nursing experience.
OR
  • Any combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
Licenses, Certificates and Other
Must be currently licensed by the state of Oregon as a registered nurse. Must have a valid Oregon driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and CPR certification.
