Who We Are
Our studio is just getting off the ground, developing a 2D open-world RPG in Unity. We believe it will take 3 years to develop, with a likely release date in 2026.
Who We Want
We are looking for a 2D animator with a passion for gaming and open-world RPGs.
The artist should be punctual, self-motivated, and committed to making an incredible RPG. It’s important that the artist is able to communicate with developers and writers — as well as other artists.
Compensation: Profit Splits
The position will earn a percentage of the game’s total profits. The position will vest toward their profit splits over the course of the development process — more details may be elaborated in a verbal meeting.
Main Responsibilities
- Understand the game’s style guide and follow it
- Create 2D animation for the game’s characters, enemies, and other assets as needed
Other Responsibilities
- Participate and post weekly SCRUM updates on time
- Check for updates in the style guide frequently and regularly
- Update and keep track of your assigned tasks
- Participate and attend weekly meetings
- Communicate; respond promptly and work with other members of the game studio team
What You Can Expect
You will gain experience working with current students and professionals. Although you will be assigned to the game studio’s art team, you will also work with programmers by answering any questions that they might have regarding art assets. You will be treated with respect, but you will also be expected to follow instructions and to communicate in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Experience with an understanding of Discord
- A functional and reliable personal computer and/or laptop
- Transcripts proving that you are currently attending college and are majoring in 2D animation
- One of the following if currently a student or recent graduate:
- Either already a professional working in the field OR currently attending college and majoring in 2D animation or a recent graduate with a degree in 2D animation (within 1 year) OR you may still apply but only truly exceptional individuals based on proof of skill will be considered at our discretion.
- A functional and reliable microphone that connects to the computer and/or laptop that you will be using
- Understanding of 2D art concepts and practices for Unity Game Engine (especially isometric)
- A copy of your degree if you have graduated within 1 year
Expectations
- Adhering to company policies and business etiquette
- Notifying management if you are unable to meet requirements at least 24-hours ahead of time (Example: You will not be able to attend the meeting for a certain week because you have a doctor’s appointment.)

- Respect and kind consideration for others regardless of position and department

Qualifications
Option 1: If you have graduated or are already a professional working in this field:
- Strong portfolio work/examples of past work
Option 2: If you are still a student or recently graduated with no professional experience:
- If you are pursuing an associate’s degree:
- Must be in 2nd year and majoring in 2D animation
- If you are pursuing a bachelor’s degree:
- Must have at least a junior standing and majoring in 2D animation
- Proof of graduating with a degree in 2D animation
- If you have graduated within the past year:

***Additionally, you must have an understanding of 2D game art and how to export files for use within Unity. This is a non-negotiable.***
