$130K/YR - Must relocate to St louis - Position is Hybrid with expectation to be in the office 2-3 times a week.
Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated data scientist with applied experience with geospatial datasets and modeling to join our team within the Climate Science organization. You will work closely with interdisciplinary scientists, leveraging environmental, and farm management data to develop remote sensing based layers that provide agronomic insights to our growers. Our team has access to rich, industry-leading data sources to drive the creation of predictive and prescriptive models that will shape the future of the agriculture industry.
What You Will Do
● Clean, munge, and explore diverse environmental and/or geospatial datasets
● Develop environmental and geospatial layers, and test these layers in predictive models
● Analyze and judge the quality of data, and work with the data quality team to resolve issues
● Design, prototype, and implement models to explore spatio-temporal dynamics and variability in agricultural fields using diverse techniques that include, but are not limited to: process modeling, statistical modeling, machine learning, data mining, and optimization
● Collaborate with other data scientists and engineers in developing models to characterize, diagnose and/or predict patterns of crop performance
● Write robust, well-documented, and well-tested research code and code libraries that adhere to community standards and best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
· MS in Statistics, Data Science, Math, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Soil Science, Geography, or other highly quantitative discipline + 2 years' experience conducting geospatial data analysis and modeling with Python, or PhD in one of the aforementioned disciplines
· Demonstrated ability to apply spatial statistical methods and/or data science to real world problems.
· Strong analytical and quantitative problem solving skills, with demonstrated ability to build, test, and iterate on a variety of model forms
· Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional environment, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to translate complex technical concepts across scientific and business domains
● Experienced in working with cloud technologies or platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience with remote sensing, agricultural, and/or large geospatial data
● Experience designing, developing, and testing geospatial pipelines applied to machine learning model generation and deployment.
● Experience using version control systems, e.g. git, github etc.
● Certifications in data analysis / sciences using Python.
● Experience using multiple forms of AI such as machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, or predictive analytics to drive decisions, using new algorithms efficiently and rigorously.

· Performing EDA and data/model validations on the geospatial datasets and models.
