The successful candidate will be technically superior and must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Prefer five years of non-academic experience, after graduation, working on water resources engineering projects under the supervision of a professional engineer.

Experience completing watershed studies, stormwater analyses and retrofits, drainage design, permitting, as well as other related experience is preferred.

Experience with Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, ICPR 3 and 4, HEC-RAS or equivalent software is preferred.

B.S. in civil engineering or master’s degree in water resources engineering is desirable.

Familiarity with ArcHydro, GWIS, SWMM, MIKE SHE, PONDS, HEC-HMS, Modret, HY-8, StormCAD, WaterCAD, CulvertMaster, and FlowMaster is a plus.

3+ years of experience in Roadway Engineering or Water Resources Design

Experience with water resources design and software including but not limited to TR-55, TR-20, HY-8, HydroCAD, HEC RAS.

Experience in Erosion and Sediment Control Design and permitting in Maryland.

Technical knowledge, experience and/or education in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, calculations, and design.

Possesses excellent time management skills, thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.

Developing water management plans related to industrial water use and erosion control,

Knowledge of software packages such as HEC-HMS, SEDCAD, HEC-RAS 1D and 2D, GoldSim. Experience with Flo-2D is preferred.

Strong writing skills and experience with producing technical memos, reports and specification documents.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree (preferred) in civil, environmental or water resources engineering with emphasis in water management.

At least 4 years of experience in water resources engineering, stormwater management, or a related field.

Previous consulting experience is a plus but is not required.

Advanced degrees and additional professional certifications (e.g., QSD/P, QISP, ToR, CPSWQ, CFM) are pluses but are not required.

Job Location and Remote Work

Identify proposed improvements to existing storm drain systems to reduce flooding.

Work with local agency field maintenance teams to identify maintenance actions and frequencies for stormwater BMPs, drainage channels, and inlets.

Effective time management skills to complete work on time and within budget.

You’ll effectively manage your time to meet project milestones/deadlines.

Support project managers in all project phases

A minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering and 0-2 years of relevant experience.

Enthusiasm to learn new engineering tasks and the ability to retain this knowledge.

Minimum Requirements - Junior Engineers:

At least 7 years of professional experience in water resources engineering and related experience

Demonstrated experience with 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SRH-2D, HEC-RAS 2D)

Demonstrated experience with other analysis and design software packages (e.g., Bentley FlowMaster, FHWA’s Hydraulic Toolbox, HY-8, Microstation, InRoads, AutoCAD Civil3D, ArcMap)

Experience with both open channel and closed conduit hydraulics

Experience with RiverWare river and reservoir modeling

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field

Designing stormwater best management practices for water quality purposes

Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

Minimum of four years of professional experience in water resources engineering or related field

Experience with wetland regulation and wetland banking

Analysis and development of technically complex hydrologic and hydraulic computer models

Evaluation of proposed modifications to existing water control structures

Navigation & Dredging – design of channels and turning basins, analysis of vessel traffic and hazards, dredging, dredged material management.

Apply knowledge of codes and standards relative to water resources/coastal engineering.

Communication: Good communication skills (spoken and written), including ability to draft a variety of correspondence and other communications, summary reports, etc.

4+ years of experience with hydraulic & hydrologic engineering.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office, MATLAB, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWAT, and working knowledge of GIS.

Applied experience leading coastal, river, stream, floodplain, and wetland restoration projects.
