Overview Substation Engineers are responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of electrical substations. They are responsible for ensuring that the substations are safe, efficient, and reliable. They also work with other engineers and technicians to ensure that the substations meet all applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Detailed Job Description Substation Engineers are responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of electrical substations. They must ensure that the substations are safe, efficient, and reliable. This includes designing and constructing new substations, as well as maintaining existing substations. They must also work with other engineers and technicians to ensure that the substations meet all applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Substation Engineers must be knowledgeable in the areas of electrical engineering, power systems, and substation design. They must be able to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. They must also be familiar with the National Electrical Code and other applicable regulations. Substation Engineers must be able to work independently and as part of a team. They must be able to communicate effectively with other engineers and technicians. They must also be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of electrical engineering, power systems, and substation design
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and other applicable regulations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering
• Knowledge of National Electrical Code and other applicable regulations
• Knowledge of power systems and substation design
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
