Experience detecting health and disease symptoms in cattle

Demonstrated skills in journalistic reporting, writing and editing. Knowledge of editing and posting content within content management systems a plus.

Ability to make farmers/ranchers comfortable discussing some of their most closely guarded business and business management information.

3 years experience as reporter or editor.

Working knowledge of livestock business and interest in becoming the DTN/PF subject matter expert in those areas is beneficial.

Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet software, digital photography, videography and social media.

Understanding or interest in creating content that performs well in search engines, social media and other drivers specific to digital media.

Extensive experience living/working in a low-income country context, with 5+ years of direct management and P&L accountability.

Experience in interacting with business leaders at senior levels and have the gravitas to garner respect.

Good knowledge of livestock industries, ideally with a good network in at least one sector (Animal Health, Animal Genetics, Animal Nutrition).

Language skills beyond English, especially those relevant to Africa and South Asia is a plus.

Improve Animal Health - Discover, develop, register and deliver quality animal health products needed by small-scale producers

Enable Access to Offtake Markets - Functional markets for livestock output that reward increased productivity and quality with greater income

Basic maintenance knowledge and skills.

Must be able to perform the job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Experience using humane animal handling techniques.

Prior work experience in a USDA inspected beef, poultry, or pork facility.

Working knowledge in safety procedures.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

This position is a Pay Band 45

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

Experience executing intensive rotational grazing, rangeland and forage management

Creation and execution of daily chores as related to cattle management

Organized self-starter with excellent observation skills, and the ability to self-manage and problem solve independently

Experience with equipment or infrastructure maintenance and repair is a plus

Maintaining herd health, including preventative care

Maintaining equipment and infrastructure such as fencing (High tensile and temporary electric fence building, maintenance, and use), farm equipment, implements, etc.

Understands State of TN Livestock standards & requirements

Alerts Farmstead Manager when extra labor help or supplies are needed to complete tasks

Responsible for caring for all Livestock including; Sheep, Donkeys, Horses, Pigs, Chickens, Ducks, Quails & Turkeys

Maintains and sanitizes the livestock/farm buildings

Repairs and maintains fences and other structures

Develop educational materials in support of Livestock IPM, such as webpages, manuals, fact sheets, field guides, videos, websites, apps, etc.

Monitor program to ensure that educational content conforms to policies and objectives of Cornell University.

Conduct applied, integrated research designed to fill IPM knowledge gaps, in cooperation with appropriate faculty and extension field staff, and/or independently.

Identify and report IPM knowledge gaps and information transfer problems.

Participate in professional development opportunities, conferences and workshops appropriate to program and personal skill enhancement.

Provide guidance to IPM extension educators on Livestock IPM implementation and the development of educational materials.

Prepare claim paperwork upon the release of actual ending values from the Risk Management Agency (RMA).

Must have previous crop insurance, agriculture business, or related education experience
