Job Description

The Livestock Technician is responsible for assisting in the care of livestock responsibilities required for the day to day operations and maintenance of the livestock/farm areas.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and adheres to farm plan, to include animal health and nutrition protocol
  • Assists Garden staff in garden maintenance and harvest when daily livestock duties are completed
  • Ensures all livestock are fed according to scheduled times
  • Promotes livestock program as often as possible
  • Assists in observing, reporting and treating (within reason) any signs of disease/disorders of livestock
  • Assists in safety procedures and understands all sanitation safety
  • Alerts Farmstead Manager when extra labor help or supplies are needed to complete tasks
  • Responsible for caring for all Livestock including; Sheep, Donkeys, Horses, Pigs, Chickens, Ducks, Quails & Turkeys
  • Assists with pasture seeding, maintaining and rotation of grazing paddocks
  • Maintains and sanitizes the livestock/farm buildings
  • Repairs and maintains fences and other structures
  • Understands State of TN Livestock standards & requirements

Previous experience with livestock is required. Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds, work outdoors in all weather conditions and be able to be on feet for majority of the day. All applicants must be able to safely operate a golf cart or company vehicle. This position would require consistent weekends.


Must comply with all company policies and procedures.

To perform the essential functions of this position regular and consistent attendance in required.

Must be able to work well with other Team Members, Managers and interact with our guests.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • No Supervisory Responsibility

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma (college Animal Science training a plus)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of Team Members & Guests in a professional and courteous manner

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Understanding of Basic math

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely operate a golf cart or company vehicle
  • Must be able to be on feet for majority of the day
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
