The Arizona Department of Agriculture is recruiting for a Livestock Officer in Yavapai County and surrounding areas. AZPOST certification is preferred. If the successful candidate is not currently AZPOST certified, they will need to attend an AZPOST certified academy and become certified within the first year of employment. The position will report to the Livestock Regional Supervisor. Please include relevant livestock experience in your resume.
The Animal Services Division protects the public from contagious and infectious disease in livestock, poultry, commercially raised fish, meat, milk, and eggs. We do this by enforcing laws concerning the movement, sale, importation, transport, slaughter, and theft of livestock. In addition, we regulate food processing and manufacturing facilities and conduct substantial food safety and quality inspections of Dairy, Meat, and Egg products produced or stored in Arizona.
As a Livestock Officer, the Arizona Department of Agriculture will provide you with a vehicle, cell phone, and tablet to perform the required job duties.
Duties to include but not limited to:
Monitor the health and proper identification of animals moving within the state through on-site reviews at ranches, feedlots, dairies, exhibitions and auction markets. Enforce Arizona revised statutes under Title 3. Investigate complaints of an animal neglect or abuse. Monitor compliance with self-inspection requirements and Beef Council fee collection by periodically reviewing records of livestock owners. Investigate reports of stray livestock and notify owner, if known, or deliver to appropriate stray facility. Support any emergency response that involves animals directly or indirectly. Handle money and make weekly deposits. Prepare and appropriately submit activity reports, departmental case reports, time sheets, travel claims, and stray/seized livestock reports in accordance with department regulations. As a Livestock Officer, the Arizona Department of Agriculture will provide you with a vehicle, cell phone, and tablet to perform the required job duties. Other duties as assigned.

AZPOST certified peace officer status that is up to date and current
Livestock experience
Arizona Driver's License - Requires possession of and the ability to retain a current Arizona driver’s license. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving record and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
An AZPOST pre-employment physical is required for this position.
A background check along with polygraph will be given to comply with AZPOST requirements for hire.

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Mandatory condition of employment for all employees who meet the eligibility and membership criteria defined in statue. Current contribution rate is 12.17%. Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
