Livestock Program Specialist Jobs

Excellent administrative and program management skills.

Maintains professional competence through study, participation in professional activities and the application of knowledge and skills on the job.

Prepares educational material, evaluation instruments, teaching materials and publicity information in support of state, county, and community initiatives.

Evaluates and documents results and impacts of educational programs.

Evidence of ability to develop research projects and manage multiple work projects to assure timely completion.

Skill in public speaking and presenting information to a large audience

Experience with production scale livestock management

Must have leadership experience or related educational qualifications

Help provide education and instruction to local high school students (Junior Crew team members) who participate in many of our enterprises;

Knowledge of multi species rotational grazing

Must have a valid Driver's License to fulfill job duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Develop an area of expertise in Animal Science Extension and demonstrate scholarly activity in related work.

Provide technical expertise, training, teaching materials for county Extension agents, specialists, clientele and organizations across the state.

Work both individually and as a team member in planning, executing and evaluating result demonstration tours, field days and seminars.

Develop and/or maintain close communication strategies with the Texas livestock industry through associations, organizations, cooperatives and individual producers.

Expertise in one or more of the following areas: genetics, physiology, nutrition, animal welfare or behavior, or sustainability.

The successful applicant must have demonstrated interest and/or expertise in working with livestock producers, industry consultants, allied industry.
