Fleet Transportation Supervisor Jobs in Ohio

Develop, manage and oversee all policies and procedures related to fleet operations.

Manage departmental budget including preparing budgetary projections for maintenance, repair and fleet purchase/lease.

Manage motor vehicle checks in accordance with University policy. Manage inventory of university drivers and coordination with University auto insurance carrier.

Manage and approve driver time cards, reconcile departmental p-card and pay vouchers.

Manage day to day shuttle operations ensuring vehicle availability and adequate routes and staffing.

Manage relationship with DMV for registration and related activities for new vehicles and vehicles being disposed.

Proficient with CAMS, (dispatch software), Peoplenet On Board Computers, Manugistics, Kroger's WIN system, (Warehouse Management System) Navis yard management system

Monitor and meet all order accuracy requirements

Communicate daily with fellow supervisors and managers on daily operational activities

Manage and promote safety and sanitation in all areas

Strong oral and written communication skills

Possess good public relations skills

Plan, schedule, and assign the work of skilled mechanics and other shop workers.

Inspect work in progress and upon completion, for compliance with policies, procedures and standard trade practices.

Make initial inspections in difficult cases and diagnose mechanic defects.

Oversee the City’s preventive maintenance program and schedule vehicles for preventive maintenance and the repair covered by dealer warranty.

Prepare detailed cost estimates and make recommendations regarding feasibility of major repairs.

Maintain records of time, materials and equipment used.

Communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates and vendors

Schedule and prioritize vehicle repairs to meet the operational requirements.

Act as "change agent" to drive "lean" education and utilization.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Proficient knowledge of MS office

Supervise the shop staff which includes recruitment, training, and evaluation of employees.

Fleet management and asset management experience is a plus.

SAP or similar ERP experience/knowledge preferred.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

Prior experience leading a large team of non-union associates in a fast paced warehouse/distribution environment.

Descartes or similar transportation software experience.

4 years of supervisory experience - management or with unionized employees*

Achieve weekly and monthly safety observation expectations and objectives in regards to the safety management plan

Performance Management, Training and Onboarding

Manage crew productivity against switching standards, recommend improvements when appropriate

Industrial work experience demonstrating progression of responsibility and complexity in a safety-compliant environment

Experience working with heavy machinery

Strong leadership and collaboration skills with experience effectively supervising, coaching and influencing employees

2 years of transportation or supply chain experience

Experience with Microsoft Office and Windows applications with the ability to create complex formulas in Excel

1 year of supervisory experience

Act as a liaison for Transportation, Operations, carriers, vendors and customers

Lead and supervise transportation staff, including training and evaluating employee performance

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Transportation Supervisor, or similar role. (Preferably in the Petro/Chemical industry).

Preferred experience of at least 1 year in a tanker trailer/bulk liquid or heavy haul environment.

Manage employee workflow, safety, compliance, electronic logging, dispatching, and order entry.

Preferred understanding/familiarity with marine vessel fueling and multi-axle equipment.

Ability to support all business operations – which will include off hours, weekends, and holidays.

Able to effectively communicate across different medias and multi-task a variety of projects.

Experience with - Transportation Administration / Maintenance - Manage DVIR / BDIR process. DOT / IFTA reporting and requirements.

Minimum of two years’ transportation supervisory experience.

SALARY: $78K+ (based on experience)

Supervisor supervises day-to-day transportation workforce.

Oversees all daily operations of the transportation drivers in the most cost-effective and customer-satisfying manner.

Fleet Maintenance and Asset Management

Direct manager supervising drivers and ensures drivers are dispatched and return safely.

Manages labor hours and consumable supplies within the forecast budget.

Provides feedback to the District Transportation Manager on carrier performance in preparation for QBRs.

Demonstrates knowledge of inventory management and routing and re-routing

Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Minimum 5 years supervisory experience

Education equivalent to graduation from High school, or GED equivalent; some college preferred

May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements

Valid drivers license required; Commercial Vehicle Driving experience a plus

Assists customers with questions and concerns, resolves problems and conflicts with other customers or Operators, modeling Ambassador skills in all interactions.

Has thorough working knowledge of Agency policies and procedures.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Recommended five years transportation operations and or equivalent leadership experience.
