Overview Evidence Technicians are responsible for collecting, preserving, and analyzing evidence from crime scenes. They use specialized equipment and techniques to collect and document evidence, and they must be able to accurately record and report their findings. Evidence Technicians must be able to work in a variety of environments, including outdoors, in laboratories, and in courtrooms. Detailed Job Description Evidence Technicians are responsible for collecting, preserving, and analyzing evidence from crime scenes. They use specialized equipment and techniques to collect and document evidence, and they must be able to accurately record and report their findings. Evidence Technicians must be able to work in a variety of environments, including outdoors, in laboratories, and in courtrooms. They must be able to identify and collect evidence, such as fingerprints, DNA, and other physical evidence. They must also be able to properly package and store evidence, and they must be able to accurately document their findings. Evidence Technicians must be able to work with law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, and defense attorneys. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of evidence collection and preservation techniques
• Knowledge of crime scene investigation techniques
• Ability to use specialized equipment to collect and analyze evidence
• Ability to accurately document and report findings
• Ability to work in a variety of environments
• Ability to work with law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, and defense attorneys

Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred
• Certification in evidence collection and preservation techniques preferred
• Previous experience in a related field preferred
