Understand & enforce the i9 Sports rules books ensuring a fun, learning, and safety for all players

Sport-specific coaching and/or officiating experience & knowledge

Hands-on involvement with practices and games among all age groups and skill levels

Responsible for enhancing the i9 Sports Experience for players, coaches, and parents

Empower volunteer coaches to lead practice sessions focusing on fundamentals, skill development, and fun

Build relationships with players, parents, and coaches while making sure that the instructional aspects of the i9 Sports Experience are delivered

3+ years of Production/Technical Management experience in a successful branded company/organization

Clearly define roles and responsibilities within the team to ensure everyone understands their specific roles, contributions and accountabilities

Regularly assess the skills and capabilities of team members to effectively allocate resources based on strengths and development areas

Operational Management with clients including reporting (internal and external)

Respond to, communicate, manage, and track technical issues as they arise in a live production environment

Strong organizational and problem solving skills who brings recommendations and solutions to the table

High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Confer with coaches, players and facility managers to provide information, coordinate activities and discuss issues.

Must attend a City of Racine three-day umpire school & successfully complete a skills test.

Previous experience as an umpire preferred.

Officiate at softball games to maintain standards of play and ensure game rules are observed.

Judge performance in order to award points, impose penalties or determine results.

High degree of interpersonal communication, conflict management skills to tactfully enforce all rules and regulations.

Ergonomic Requirements: Bending, stooping, standing, lifting up to 25 pounds, seeing, verbal communication and hearing.

Exemplify and accept YMCA values, ideals, leadership qualities, and professional image.

Must have an eye for detail, quick decision making and ability to recognize and remedy hazardous/dangerous situations.

Dedicated to member safety and the mission/values of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta.

Must be available nights and weekends.

College or professional playing experience

Equivalent to a twelfth (12th) grade education. Previous experience working in sporting activities desirable.

$500 hiring incentive after completion of 100 hours worked.

Under general supervision, to umpire men’s, women’s and co-ed softball; and performs related work as required.

Receives general supervision from the Recreation Supervisor. Exercises no direct supervision.

Must possess a valid California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Additional Qualifications

Knowledge of USSSA rules and officiating mechanics and signals.

Provides excellent customer service and possesses a service philosophy which reflects the mission for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Possesses characteristics of a strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to details.

Works with supervisory staff to assure the accurate setup of the playing field.

Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines

Good interpersonal skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds

Accounts payable – Work with the Finance team on field, umpire, awards (etc.) invoices

Experience managing day-to-day operations of running a league and/or tournament preferred

Excellent customer service skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

The umpire will arrive fifteen (15) minutes prior to the schedule game time.

The umpire will officiate youth baseball and softball games.

The umpire will talk with each coach before the game and review any ground rules, unusual circumstances or local field hazards.

The umpire will check all equipment and field for safety hazards.
