Responsibilities and deliverables for role:
- Maintain and support TPX session manager environment.
- Responsibilities also include installation and support of Connect:Direct.
- Mainframe Network System programmer responsible for configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of VTAM and TCPIP.
- Serve in an on-call rotation with the rest of the team members that will require working on some weekends during maintenance change windows.
- Ability to set up and troubleshoot native file transfer products such as FTP, SFTP.
- Become involved with IP address design and integrate the zSeries mainframe with multiple platforms.
- Participate in the support and implementation of zSeries Communication Server (VTAM and TCPIP).
- Follow standardized guidelines and procedures, as well as help improve on these guidelines as to simplify their future functionality.
- Participate in the support and implementation of individual software products used for printing and file transfer.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting mainframe network problems using multiple communications protocols.
- 3 - 5 years of experience serving in a mainframe tech support role, preferably as a mainframe network tech support person.
- 3 – 5 years of TPX administrator experience.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimal 3 -5 years experience configuring and troubleshooting zSeries Communication Services VTAM, TCPIP, TN3270.
Desired requirements:
- Experience using SMPE to install software products.
- System software infrastructure
- Hardware Infrastructure
- Configuration management
- Data networks
- TPX administrator experience.
- Familiarity with Connect:Direct
- Experience with FTP-ATTLS (FTP using application transparent TLS)
- IT standards, procedures, policy
Subject matter expert in:
- Product and vendor evaluation
- Technical troubleshooting
- Network operations
- Network architecture
- IT environment
- Contingency and disaster recovery
