W&S Cadastral Technician

High school diploma or GED. Three years of technical drafting experience to include the preparation of working plans and drawings using AutoCADD are required. One year of technical surveying experience may substitute for one year of the required drafting experience. Completion of coursework in Engineering may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

NATURE OF WORK:

This position uses GIS and related tools to update the Water & Sewer Department’s (WASD) GIS infrastructure layers with completed projects using as-builts, field books, verified data correction requests and other departmental approved sources of record. This position performs work involving interpretation of source engineering drawings and using WASD GIS data maintenance application to digitize all above ground and linear infrastructure into the WASD GIS infrastructure layers; use of multiple departmental tools to validate questionable source documentation; identification and documentation of discrepancies found in the WASD GIS infrastructure layers; correction of the WASD GIS infrastructure layers; and perform peer data review. Supervision may be received from a W&S GIS Quality Assurance Specialist or W&S GIS Quality Assurance Supervisor.
