Job Summary:

Responsible for taking X-rays of patients in a safe and timely manner; and for maintaining X-ray equipment, images, and reports, in an appropriate fashion. The X-Ray Technician is also responsible for performing the duties as a Lab Assistant as needed.

Primary Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

X-Ray Technician Responsibilities:

• Order supplies
• Duplicate films upon request
• Perform X-rays in a safe and timely manner, using proper technique and positioning.
• Attach images and reports to orders.
• Follow safety procedures.
• Track to verify that reports are returned from tele-radiology facility.
• Perform equipment maintenance and maintain all logs appropriately.
• Transmit scanned images to tele-radiology facility.

General Duties:

• Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
• Participate in huddles emphasizing a team-based approach to care.
• Participate in team meetings to address patient care and operational requirements.
• May travel to other locations as necessary.
• Participate in patient care coordination, one-on-one communication, patient contact, email, and documentation of any services accessed and/or health care related concerns/needs that have arisen since last visit.

• Team members in this role will need to be familiar with navigating daily tasks and workflow within an electronic health record which includes creating and updating electronic documentation using electronic tools and applications on portable computing devices, results review, order entry and clinical decision support.

• Individuals will assist in organizing the work of a provider to take full advantage of the features of health IT in pursuit of meaningful use of health IT to improve health and care. This includes communicating health/medical information using standard definitions, vocabularies, terminologies and/or relevant data sets as used in the organization’s health information systems.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of Basic X-ray operator training program or
• Completion of Medical Assistant course with valid Medical Assistant diploma, or documented proof of on-the-job training in a doctor’s office will also be considered.

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year experience in X-ray preferred.
• New graduates will be considered.
• One year experience with venipuncture and phlebotomy procedures preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

• Current/valid BLS certification or must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
• Current Basic X-ray (BXMO) license in the State of Florida required.
• Current radiologist assistant with (CRA) or current certification as a general radiographer with (CRT-R) preferred.

Special Skills:

• Bilingual (English / Spanish, English / Creole) skills preferred.
• Ability to function professionally in emergency situations.

Other requirements:

• Able to work flexible hours as needed and sites as needed.
