The primary purpose of this position is to provide meteorological services, which are vital to the support of operational weather and resource protection. Responsibilities Provides complex operational weather support to Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Reserve, Guard, and other DoD customers. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors significant weather developments, especially as they present potential impacts on critical flight/test operations. Provides technical guidance and instructions to lower graded technical employees, or airmen. Provides Mission Execution Forecasts for local, transient, and other supported aircrews in person, by telephone, or via computer. Observes, encodes, records, disseminates, and evaluates weather observations. Examples of specialized experience includes specialized experience includes meteorological methods, techniques, and practices, including weather observing, forecasting, communications, meteorological equipment and support procedures in determining how local conditions and reports and observations from various sources affect weather forecasts, the extent of change, and whether to take action to protect life and property; data collection, verification, information dissemination, observation, and forecasting services and systems; weather briefings. OR EDUCATION: Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree in a related degree program meets the requirements for GS-

• Knowledge of meteorology including meteorological methods, techniques, and practices, including weather observing, forecasting, communications, meteorological equipment and support procedures.
• FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
• Ability to make timely decisions and select a course of action under high stress conditions associated with severe weather and emergency situations. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
