Lead all financial and accounting activities for Manufacturing, Engineering, Safety & Supply Chain organizations. Primary responsibilities include direction of the monthly close process for all plants, managing plant controllers and Operations Finance personnel (either directly or via divisional controllers), monthly/weekly/quarterly reporting of key manufacturing metrics to senior management, forecasting & budgeting, and in-depth financial analysis of operational opportunities.

The VP, Operations Finance will be a key member of the Operations team led by the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Supply Chain Officer working to streamline/reduce production cost & improve both delivery and quality. The role requires accounting and financial acumen as well as experience/fortitude to work with plant management, Supply Chain management, and Engineering team to provide accurate/timely financial guidance and data needed to grow the profitability of AM.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Be the link between Finance and Operations functions. Must speak the language of both disciplines
  • Provide analytical support to make key operational decisions
  • Ensure transparency and understanding of key operational data and metrics throughout the Operations organization
  • Monitor, enforce and ensure that financial records and data are accurately presented
  • Serve as a strong business partner to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Supply Chain Officer
  • Timely preparation and delivery of required financial reports & performance metrics
  • Work with Finance and IT to ensure we have appropriate technology-enabled business solutions to support AM’s Operations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Related:

  • Work cross functionally with the Commercial Team & Operations team to streamline the warranty process and reduce the cost of quality
  • Develop and report on KPI’s in support of manufacturing, supply chain and procurement
  • Support Chief Operating Officer, Chief Supply Chain Officer, all other Operational management in current & future initiatives, providing financial guidance where needed
  • Support the measurement and P&L tracing of savings from operational improvements (AM’25)
  • Work with Operations management to produce financial forecasts and budgets
  • Validate/track/account for all cost improvement projects (CIP)
  • Evaluate all capital spend requests & paybacks to ensure proper and profitable use of capital investment funds

Accounting / Compliance / Governance Related:

  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Prepare and provide guidance/direction around the Operational annual budget and quarterly forecasts
  • Oversee the standard costing functions of all integrated product
  • Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
  • Proper analytical review of the asset operations from a balance sheet and income statement perspective as well as an overall business perspective
  • Prepare work papers and journal entries supporting the monthly close process and month-end balances
  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently in a management role (i.e. with controllers, group controllers reporting to the role)
  • Deep financial analysis experience in operational contexts (e.g., efficiency, footprint optimization, etc.)
  • Manufacturing accounting experience (i.e., Cost Accounting Manager, Plant Controller) - required
  • Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Accounting - required
  • CPA - strongly preferred
  • Candidate will ideally have 15+ years of total experience
  • Exposure to senior management and Board of Directors is a plus
