Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The VP of Marketing drives CBC's brand by developing and coordinating marketing and communications plans and programs, overseeing day-to-day marketing operations by evaluating member research, market conditions, competitor data and implementing marketing plan changes as needed. Oversees all marketing, advertising programs, campaigns, and activities. Manages third party vendors to accomplish credit union objectives. Directs the inception and development of new services and products. Oversees the corporate website and user engagement. Continuously improves internal communication and marketing participation. Responsible for the successful execution of the day-to-day activities performed by all areas assigned to credit union marketing operations. Leads the formulation, implementation, evaluation and administration of the credit union's marketing and market development functions to include new product/service evaluation, development and implementation. Contributes to marketing effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action. Recommends product or service enhancements to provide quality customer service. Establishes direction for branding, marketing, advertising, member satisfaction, retention, and credit union growth strategies. Achieves financial objectives by establishing success metrics; developing budgets; controlling costs; maximizing use of assets. Presents and communicates all marketing programs to management and staff. Responsible for the optimization of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Executes effective website marketing funnel tactics with a relentless focus on end-to-end lead management to drive conversions. Responsible to grow web traffic through organic search and other non-paid channels. Develops site functionality expansion to foster improved user engagement. Coordinate communication to members, employees and public as necessary; including, but not limited to, branches, internet, social media, and/or direct mail. Manages all aspects of broadcast, digital, and print production. Manages the professional appeal, accuracy, and inventory of sales and marketing collateral. Perform competitive analysis and marketplace research as predicated by business need and make recommendations for promotions and marketing plans. Manages internal marketing initiatives associated with credit union's people first culture including, but not limited to, photographing and promoting credit union all-team activities and telling a compelling story about working at CBC through intranet posts, write-ups and photographs. Works in collaboration with Human Resources to support and promote all-team activities. Effectively hires, trains, leads, and directs the activities of department personnel. Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures. Reviews and evaluates performance of subordinate personnel, and recommends salary adjustments, promotions, discharges and other personnel required actions. Manage direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the credit union credit union, including: hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and termination, as appropriate. Serves as the lead public relations contact for CBC. Assists in the development and implementation of credit union new product and service initiatives. Interviews, hires, and manages various third-party services providers to accomplish CBC FCU business plan objectives. Serves as primary Point of Contact and evaluates the effectiveness of marketing agency and other marketing specific vendors. Ensures the marketing promotions meet or set objectives. Measures results on major campaigns and reports results to the SVP, Chief Strategy Officer. Ensures credit union staff receives advanced notice of all promotions and campaigns and were deemed necessary, has received proper training to make sure corporate consistency, continuity and professionalism is preserved. Remains current on changes in marketing and public relations, and competitive environments, which may affect credit union marketing and business development functions; ensures marketing and public relations communications follow applicable federal, state and charter regulations. Executes management and development of all corporate branding and marketing campaigns. Conduct periodic analysis of member and non-member perceptions of brand strategy, mass media and social media campaigns and communications, and propose appropriate modifications thereof as appropriate. Stays informed of trends in the credit union marketing field and industry. Builds trust, values others, communicates effectively, drives execution, fosters innovation, focuses on the member, collaborates with others, solves problems creatively and demonstrates high integrity. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and ability required of an individual to satisfactorily perform the essential duties of this job. Must have a thorough understanding of essential marketing, advertising, public relations, social media, and the ability to analyze the effectiveness of campaigns, and recommend appropriate plans of action to improve deficiencies. Must have advanced interpersonal skills for effective staff administration. Must demonstrate working knowledge of marketing and business development strategies along with existing knowledge or demonstrated capability to comprehend complex compliance regulations. Must demonstrate flexibility while engaging in the planning process and be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with members of the executive team. Ability to carry out instructions independently and exhibit effective project management and problem-solving skills. Must be able to understand difficult concepts as it relates to managing competitive branding and positioning challenges. Ability to accurately perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; as well as advanced mathematical disciplines such as algebra, calculus, statistics, and probability; that enable financial analysis such as effective management of resources, return on investment for campaigns, and management of a member data warehouse. Exhibits exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strengths in tailoring tone and messaging for the defined audience; effectively communicating complex ideas in simple terms Ability to read and comprehend job related materials efficiently. Ability to prepare written correspondence in a professional manner; including the ability to develop academically defensible business cases and multimedia (i.e. PowerPoint or Keynote) summaries that propose new or modified strategies. Working knowledge of various Microsoft Office computer programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc. Proficient in use of Adobe Creative Suite or other desktop publishing software. Ability to comprehend and utilize professional graphic layout skills. Working knowledge of the credit union's core operating system preferred. Knowledge of credit union products preferred. Ability to travel to attend conferences for continuing education, networking to obtain industry best practices, and conduct due diligence examinations on vendors and potential merger/acquisition candidates. Knowledge of HubSpot and marketing automation strategies strongly preferred. Active in professional organizations pertaining to marketing. High level of creativity and flexibility to improve existing programs and develop new value-added ones. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or board of directors and volunteer committees. Ability to develop effective working relationships with all staff at all levels. Excellent world class member service. Exceptional time management skills, well organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from team members, members, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B. A.), preferably in marketing, or equivalent from college or technical school; or five to eight year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work area is well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. The noise level is moderate. WORK SCHEDULE: Typical schedule would be 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Additional work time or weekend work may be required to complete a project; however, due to the exempt status of this position, overtime will be unpaid. Occasional attendance at meetings before or after scheduled hours or on weekends will be required. Management reserves the right to change any employee's work schedule to meet the operational needs of the Credit Union. Furthermore, management reserves the right to reassign any employee, either temporarily or permanently, to work at another credit union location.
