Our VP, Global Claims Fraud Risk Mitigation leader will be responsible for developing and executing claims fraud risk mitigation strategy in accordance with the needs and requirements of each line of business. Directs regional teams that will establish fraud risk triage and investigation practices that are continuously refreshed, refined, and optimized to proactively detect and reduce incidences of claims fraud. In partnership with Data Analytics, IT, and Operations Transformation, actively pursues the adoption of technology and automation that enable data-driven insights. Through collaboration with our regional fraud risk leaders and client facing leaders, demonstrates Assurant’s competitive strength in effectively mitigating fraud risk through our Dynamic Claims Management model. Oversees the effective delivery of claims triage and special investigations services and ensures that practices follow country and state regulatory requirements.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

- Leads and influences strategic initiatives and planning by presenting to executives and decision makers.
- Drives teams to craft meaningful insights from complex data with content that clearly presents opportunities in an accurate, clear, concise, and engaging manner. Ensures data-driven decision making is a priority for clients, colleagues, and other internal stakeholders.
- Compares performance against industry best practices toward identifying performance and/or profitability improvement opportunities with actionable plans that are executed to drive tangible value for both our clients and Assurant.
- Is an expert at getting to the root cause of a problem, defining business objectives and formalizing data requirements – especially in a fast paced, fluid environment.
- Calculates and demonstrates the benefits of claims fraud risk mitigation across business units and lines of business.
- Oversees operational claims fraud risk and special investigations strategy, spearheading the execution of dynamic claims management services and special investigation services with each regional / product / line of business team.
- Identifies macro business and market trends that guide areas of future analysis and implications for the business.
- Manages the cost of fraud risk mitigation at a tactical / transactional level, to continuously assess the impact of automation and digitization, to reduce our cost per transaction.
- Build and lead a team capable of driving tangible performance opportunities with both rigorous depth and appropriate scalability for a large set of clients on authorizations, risk, engagement, investigations, and digital products.
- Demonstrates exceptional business and technical acumen – be able to seamlessly shift between conversations with executives and technical staff.
- Develops and retains the right caliber of talent to lead these functions and cultivates an environment that drives innovation, automation, and healthy collaboration across functional teams.
- Effectively manages triage and investigation unit costs and produces a performance metrics dashboard with demonstration of ongoing improvements.
- Proactively seeks and implements products and services that are most effectively utilized to mitigate claims fraud risk. Translates that knowledge into client engagement strategies that yield financial and performance benefits.
- Leads and drives claims fraud loss reduction efforts for cross-functional teams and ensures timely execution, savings / loss reduction realization, with transparent communications on fraud mitigation tactics and results.
- Cultivates deep partnerships with leaders and other functional disciplines, building relationship capital that facilitates the advancement of strategic, cross-functional initiatives.
- Drives and prioritizes business initiatives related to innovative claims fraud risk mitigation technologies (e.g., automation, fraud detection/prevention solutions, data analysis), demonstrating strengths that differentiate us from our competitors.
- Develops solutions with a focus on optimizing our customer’s experience with a balance of efficient methods of delivering services.
- Works effectively with legal, litigation and compliance teams on claims fraud and special investigations services and ensures that all related regulatory reporting is done in accordance with country and state insurance department regulatory requirements.
- Serves as a strategic advisor to organizational leadership and peers regarding our claims fraud analytic capabilities.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
This position demands an energetic, analytic business executive with demonstrated thought leadership on building and sustaining an operational performance and/or client engagement function. Deep expertise in either analytics, business consulting or operational excellence is highly desirable.
- This is a remote Global opportunity.
- Experience effectively managing a multi-million-dollar budget across multiple cost centers.
- Experience with interpreting regulatory requirements relative to claims and fraud risk mitigation strategies and practices, and effectively delivering on services in accordance with regulatory requirement.
- Experience leading and driving fraud loss reduction efforts across cross-functional teams ensuring timely execution and transparent communications on fraud risk mitigation tactics.
- Strong verbal, written, motivational and interpersonal skills are required.
- Expertise in delivering data insights, strategic planning and analytic strategy is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis and performance metrics management with an emphasis on transactional cost reductions.
- 10+ years working in claims operations, fraud risk analytics, strategic operations, and insight delivery roles with client-facing experience.
- 4-year college degree in a quantitative field; advanced quantitative or business degree is preferred.
- 7+ years of leadership or management experience.
- Be a transformative and collaborative leader with executive presence and experience – inspire others to a new level of excellence, both in and outside of your organization, at all levels of the organization.
- A minimum of 15 years of success in progressively responsible roles, effectively leading efforts across cross-functional teams.
- Possess a relentless client-centric, result-driven mindset coupled with strong problem-solving skills and an ability to break down complex problems and propose alternative, new ways of thinking.
- Proven experience examining and implementing third-party software providers of fraud mitigation capabilities desired.
