Job Description
The Opportunity


This position is responsible for facilitating the efficient and effective performance of strategic and critical business activities. This position works alongside of and in support of the executive team and the broader enterprise by directly engaging with associates and stakeholders to advance and execute strategy and business planning priorities, optimize decision-making and workflows across the company, and communicate and implement the strategic vision. This position may regularly function as a “filler” or “fixer”, working across a variety of strategic projects to ensure they remain on track and moving forward, and that communication is flowing between all parties to successfully achieve priorities and goals.


This position supports and participates in the implementation of strategy and decision-making in support of long-term goals and objectives of the business. Decisions and recommendations typically have a long-term impact on the enterprise reputation, and problems are unique and abstract in nature and span across disciplines and business segments. This position requires regular and ongoing communication with senior leadership on matters of strategic importance.


Essential Functions


  • Prepares executives for key business meetings and presentations, including board and officer meeting agendas, presentations, and materials.
  • Leads specific initiatives and special projects as assigned by executive leadership team
  • Enables well informed decision-making by ensuring essential information is synthesized to the executive team and that business decisions are shared with the appropriate teams.
  • Partners with the internal communications team to cascade company-wide information, manages associate town halls, and ensures that individual executive communication plans are in place
  • Provides oversight of strategic and business planning efforts, including regular and ongoing monitoring and reporting of the progress to key stakeholders and executive leadership, ensuring adherence to timelines and milestones. Identifies and mitigates risks, resolves concerns, removes barriers, and escalates issues, as needed.
  • Collaborates with leaders to identify and provide recommendations on improvements across the organization that advance business plans or strategic initiatives and/or gain efficiency in processes and operations.
  • Establishes and refines processes and tools to manage the business cadence of the company and to connect work streams within the organization that might otherwise remain siloed.
  • Attends select meetings as proxy to executive team and curates notes and resulting action items


Minimum Qualifications


  • Must be forward thinking, with a strong understanding of the business and the industry to ‘connect the dots’ and anticipate needs. Must operate independently to advance efforts without direct guidance from the senior executive team. Must be flexible and able to embrace ambiguity while facilitating the advancement of company initiatives
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Requires strong leadership and project management skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and technical skills, and the ability to build strong relationships
  • Requires the ability to understand, navigate, and manage the company’s sensitivities, customers, and team members who make it all work and be highly committed to successful outcomes for the company and its stakeholders, not solely for one business unit or function
  • 20 years of progressive professional experience in the AEC industry, including demonstrated project management experience and the proven ability to establish relationships and partnerships, while working with cross-functional teams, and driving execution


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master’s degree. License or certification related to the AEC industry or project management (e.g., PE or PMP)
