The VP, Sales position is responsible for leading the sales and marketing for the America’s region of the Standards Business Unit through its next phase of growth. This Market and Customer oriented position entails building, developing, and leading the sales and marketing team to exceed sales revenue, profitability, and budgetary objectives. This role requires an experienced commercial decision maker that knows how to commercialize our catalogue using multi-faceted route-to-market strategies as well as being able to drive Key Account Management with a Pharma emphasis and bespoke solutions to large international customers.
This is a leadership role overseeing and managing the development and implementation of high priority strategic business initiatives in a complex, multi-brand, catalogue-based life science market space. The candidate must possess strong business acumen and be able to lead and influence individuals and teams across multiple countries, while driving results through teamwork and collaboration.
What you’ll do
- Oversee various marketing activities (i.e., attendance at scientific meetings, customer visits, regional market meetings, marketing research) to stay current on issues related to customer needs as well as future market opportunities
- Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
- Work with direct reports and Standards Leadership to develop monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and profitability forecasts for all products
- Recruit, cultivate, and retain talent to ensure a high performing Commercial organization
- Ensure the value proposition of the solutions we are selling are well articulated, relevant to the customers’ needs
- Develop accurate sales forecasts that allow management to effectively capitalize on opportunities, manage issues and measure performance
- Review and design compensation structure and variable compensation plans in conjunction with appropriate leaders.
- Develop and implement sector strategies including industry trends, competitor assessments, and develop product/service positioning and pricing solutions.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a science-based discipline, preferably chemistry. MBA in an asset.
- Excellent coordination, problem solving, conflict resolution and consensus building skills
- Goal oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills
- Previous Leadership experience required with a firm understanding of the Profit and Loss financials
- 10+ years of demonstrable sales success, leading high performing teams. Ideally within a Life Sciences or Analytical Chemistry industry.
