Vice President Of Construction

We are currently seeking a Vice President of Construction to include civil site work, asphalt paving, trucking, and underground utilities in Huntsville, AL for our Alabama Construction operations reporting directly to the Strategic Market Area (SMA) Vice President. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to recruit, train, develop and retain employees while focused on uncompromised excellence in safety, quality, and productivity.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Maintain good industry involvement with associations and state and local government relationships.
• Actively involved with the annual business plan review process
• Oversee the successful bidding & building of heavy highway, commercial, city, county, residential, and Department of Defense (DOD) work with Redstone Arsenal.
• Ensure good working relationships with ALDOT, City, County, and all customers across the region.
• Manage and motivate approximately 5-6 direct reports responsible for civil site construction, asphalt paving, utilities, project management, logistics, and other duties related to all facets of civil construction.
• Ensure good working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors are developed and maintained.
• Works directly with the SMA Vice President to manage the day-to-day business activity for estimating, grading, utilities, site prep, concrete, trucking, and asphalt paving with a team of 500+ employees across 9 counties in Alabama.
• Work directly with the SMA Vice President to drive the strategic vision for the market area focused on growth.
• Oversee monthly DOT lettings with estimating and production teams.
• Responsible for the safety of all personnel and property on all projects and work co-operatively with staff to ensure everyone stays committed to achieving a zero-injury safety culture by implementing all Rogers Group Safety Principles without compromise.
• Ensure projects are being managed to meet strict financial metrics.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to supervise, train, and develop personnel.
• Demonstrable knowledge of all construction processes with an emphasis on civil work.
• Must be able to perform in a team atmosphere, need good inquiry skills.
• 12-15 years of direct industry experience, along w/ a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or related field of study preferred; previous civil estimating experience and P&L responsibility required.
• Ability to read plans and proposals, visualize the job and see the opportunities.
• Ability to communicate and work with senior management to achieve the necessary goals set for specific projects.
• Proven performer with bottom-line responsibility
• Strategic thinker with growth in mind
• Manage projects involving incentives/disincentives with strict deadlines and a knack for pushing the schedule.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with internal and external customers
