MAX SALARY - $109,000

The Value Stream Manager is a leadership role that will be primarily focused on ensuring a safe work environment for all employees, while maintaining continuous operational execution and production of quality products that are delivered on-time to customers within established cost targets.


The Value Stream Manager will focus on eliminating waste developed in the value stream process, identifying business growth opportunities, understand the importance of customer value created by the company, maximize capacity to grow sales and driving lean continuous improvement.


Strategically focused and leading/driving team members in Kaizen events, problem solving activities, owning the value stream.


Description Of Duties And Responsibilities


  • Manage all value stream related KPIs (SQDCI)
  • Co-leads recordable or significant case investigations including root-cause and corrective actions
  • Drive Southwire Culture of Zero by demonstrating Safe and Quality conscious work habits
  • Ensure policies and processes are deployed uniformly throughout the value stream
  • Responsible to ensure of executing findings of accident investigations and safety alerts within their value stream

  • Any other activities as directed by the Plant Leadership
  • Highlight and action critical issues in value stream to Plant Leadership
  • Execute lean tools and procedures within value stream to minimize process variation
  • Preparing a future state map that uses lean techniques to eliminate waste and improve process value in the short to mid-term
  • Perform regular training needs assessments to identify needed training for all employees
  • Lead problem solving events and follow-up with corrective actions for completion
  • Must be flexible and willing to accept responsibilities that are outside the traditional scope
  • Lead productivity improvement teams and projects to eliminate losses and improve manufacturing operations
  • Coordinates with other managers and guarantees workflow with other departments
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts
  • Develop a highly motivated and committed workforce with emphasis on the development of skills needed to accomplish safety, quality, on-time delivery, and product cost goals
  • Ensuring that a current state value stream map is created of the end-to-end value stream(s)
  • Actively leads the Southwire DHP process and be capable of sharing information related to value stream as needed
  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction to Supervisors and Leads
  • Drives employee engagement within value stream
  • Determine manpower needs and staffing levels to achieve budget
  • Create a standard for value stream process and ensure entire team are properly trained, resourced, supplied, and managed to attain the objectives


Qualifications and Experience Requirements:


  • Statistical and analytical problem solving; database management skills
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to heat/cold conditions and levels of noise, and potential exposure to various industrial liquids, oils, gases, etc
  • The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing for potential long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items 50 pounds or less. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Professional Certification: Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing or distribution operations with a least 2 years in a leadership/management role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with SAP, Advaris is a plus
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities along with outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills required
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably engineering or business degree
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organization and positively influence strategies and outcomes
  • Must have clear understanding of OPS, the DHP principles and applications
  • Ability to demonstrate quantitative, visual, mechanical and spatial skills related to manufacturing knowledge and technical skill in addition to logical reasoning
